Giving away gold, is it punishable?

So since I'm rich, I give my friends gold sometimes. When they ask for cash for enchants/gems I gladly give out, but sometimes they also buy gold from sites.

I never purchased any gold from chinese because I know how to get it myself, but if my friends get reported and blizz investigates and traces trades by me, will I get banned? I usually give out 2-6k in small rations now and then.

    No you won't get punished.
I do hope your friends get punished, they are the main reason for account thefts and that sorta thing.
    Gold buyers, such sad people.

If they see your balance and that you are friends for a longer period and have some nonsense name, I guess not. Besides, the volume of gold flowing out from you and inflow will be reasonably low, lower than someone being forcefed through multiple chars / farmes anyway.
True, but the difference is that in GTA3 you're only shooting (and robbing, murdering, having sex with, etc) pixels. In WOW you get the pleasure of dealing with some of the most despicable human behaviour you'll ever witness.

Well I usually earn 20k or more every day depending on peak times and such. Got 2 accounts, 1 bank account and 1 playing account (damn you 10 char limit).
I send the gold through mail to my friends from that account.

You should be fine unless you send like 50 k in a mail, if you for some reason want to transfer a huge sum of gold, trade them or do it by guild bank.

NO, you're fine giving out gold.

You do sound kind of guilty or feel a bit wrong about something though.

    Giving gold away is fine.

But I know one gold maker who got banned, because he gave 400k away to stranger. That lucky stranger got banned too. But in 4 hours bans were lifted.

So, Sharing is caring. But you if you share too much, the system may ban you and you must contact to customer support.

If you earn the gold legitimately, no. They can see that you've got a proper account and are making money the correct way. Everything anyone does or says is logged somewhere. They can see if your friend got 20k gold out of a random hacked account and distinguish that from the gold he gets from you.

If you earn it through botting and feel that dishing it out somehow spreads the guilt, then yes. Yes you will.

This is fine, I (and many people in my guild) was "giving out" gold ingame for years and nothing ever happened.

Though Blizzard didn't see the IRL money being transferred to me .

I earn it honestly sitting on the AH while waiting for raids/rated BGs to start, nothing to do in this game anymore

Thats a different scenario. You get gold from ur bf but you dont buy gold. I'm scared I might get banned for giving away to gold buyers.

As long as they didn't buy said aforementioned gold from you, you should be in the clear. It's clear that you're not trading them any out of game goods or services for in-game currency, and the GMs should understand that.

P.S. - Can we be friends?

Then again, its usually the gold buyers who get hacked...

Unbalanced trades (getting gold for nothing) usually result in auto-suspensions.

It's a fair concern. Whilst you're legit, you're acting like a lot of other people trading with that account. I imagine that you might get auto-suspended, but a quick check of the chat logs should clear your name, assuming you chat with the guy and don't just randomly donate gold.

I would however be tempted to report the gold buyer. He's hurting the game and funding the hacking of accounts.

They usually go like this. Hey Beastmode can you give me some gold to get some enchants/gems for new gear? And I give them. They always ask before I give.
