    SWTOR made WoW more fun

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A WoW vs SWTOR thread, so please resist

Like many WoWers/exWoWers here I was waiting for ToR to come out for years. IMHO Cata was a bad expansion and gave me no reason to play except for raid. By July I was logging on just for raid night. The SW came out and starting on the 13th all my focus was on SW. As was/is most of my guild. Our raid fell apart and all but 4 or 5 of our active players switched. We now have a 50 person SW guild

People are all spread out over levels, sharing mats, advice, helping on quests. It has been a blast, that whole new thing which pulls a guild together. Saturday will be our first raid.

My wife and I had suddenly forgotten about WoW and we signed up for the annual pass so we are not going anywhere.

Funny thing happened. Thursday when the servers were down, we logged into WoW and queue'd for LFR. We had a blast, I know OMG NEWB, LFR is for Apes. But it was a ton of fun. It really showed that WoW is much more polished and fluid in combat. But I have to say it was the most fun I had in WoW in a long time. This shows that the potential for ToR is great, and that both games have different things to offer.

My time will still be spent in ToR as there is so much more to see/learn. But this proves to me that having subs to both is a good thing. It also shows me that ToR has a lot of room to grow and can get a ton better

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Once again not a one game better than the other, but instead how playing both has benefits

DON'T MAKE THE POSTER BELOW RIGHT! THIS THREAD WAS ABOUT PLAYING BOTH GAMES AND HOW THE CAN COMPLIMENT THE OTHER

When I log into WoW to raid I certainly appreciate the advanced polished state the game is in, that is for sure. More fun? Not really, but MoP is bringing a lot of changes that I am looking forward to trying out!

Ive actually also realised how well Blizz does things, TOR might become great as well. But it needs to brew a bit longer.

I must confess TOR is more a filler till MoP...Unfortunatly apparantly enjoying both is a sin

Your intentions might have been good...but this thread can lead only to more tragedy.

I've always seen the things that Blizzard has done as really well done, if they are trying for something they tend to get it right. The reason I don't like WoW at the moment is that they are doing really good at doing stuff I don't like.

To be fair against SWTOR. Blizzard are now in their 7th (?) year with WoW. That's alot of polishing in code, etc.

But, yes. WoW is more polished than SWTOR, obviously. Don't expect anything else either.
I expected a working game in the startup phase, because of my experiences with other MMOs in the startup. And BIOWARE + mmos. I didn't know what to expect there, either.

SWTOR is doing great. I can't go back to MMOs without voice acting and such awesome focus in the "RPG" part, now...

I've tried several "comebacks" to WoW before SWTOR. The WoW universe, community and gameplay is too "boring" for me. It was time to move on!

I feel the same, its a fun game, but I am getting bored already, only really planned to play until Diablo 3 at least, but with annual pass, I'll most likely try MoP if I'm not in school by then.

LOL yeah by the first response I guess it is

I guess time away from the game has made it more fun to play.

Well, obviously some time away from WoW would make it more fun. The best way to make a game fun is to take a break from it.

Also, both WoW and SW:TOR are good games. WoW has just been suffering from some bad decisions (which MoP will fix, hopefully), while SW:TOR needs some time to establish itself.

The best way to know if you like a game is playing it yourself. There are a lot of cases where people will say bad things about a game, and it'll be complete humbug. I'm not saying that goes for WoW, but... A lot of people are just too negative and picky.

If/When I get bored with SWTOR and try out Wow again, I hope it does the same for me.

Im sick of comments like this that suggest the mod should do something don't you know its against the terms to tell a mod what to do?

I think I am most looking forward to the Monk class. In a way SWTOR is preparing me for that gameplay stye (no auto attack).

I think I miss my auto attack button the most when in SWTOR as I use it as a target function in WoW to get the closest person. SWTOR has a target closest person as well, but it isn't rolled into another ability so I have to retrain my targeting muscle memory.

Speaking of targeting, I hate the targeting in SWTOR. It is too precise. It feels as though you have to click the actual pixels of the player where as in WoW they seem to have a targetable aura. I like the aura much better, especially in a fast paced PvP match.

I truly don't understand what the big deal about "no autoattack" is. I've never cared about autoattack in WoW and I haven't missed it in SWTOR. It doesn't feel any different for me.

Most WoW DPS classes+specs utilize every GCD anyway. There are exceptions but they are relatively minor, and if there were no autoattack filling that space the class would still not feel any different.

I resubbed a few days ago after reaching my frustration limit in 10 fps warzones. I had not played WoW since upgrading my graphics card and I was blown away by how smooth and colorful it was. Everything was alive. It is like WoW 2 to me

Idk how much more fun the graphics upgrade will produce, but it certainly makes everything I do a bit more enjoyable. I used to have pretty bad performance in Outland and last night I was running a concrete 75 fps with most setting up. So smooth.

He is not telling a mod to close the thread, he is in before the thread gets closed because nothing good will come out of it. Though if you are feeling sick, maybe you should get some rest friend.

I'm sorry I couldn't read this with a straight face. Nothing good is going to come out of that game.

This for me. I have layed off of wow atm. Quit raiding even though I just moved servers to join a heroic raiding guild. But until MoP Ill prob quit raiding and just play once or twice a week and play TOR for now. TOR is new and fun and its at the end of Cata and not much to do. So TOR until MoP but I have the annual pass so no plains to quit WoW. Just hard to keep up with both.

The auto attack mechanic has nothing to do with anything you just typed. And the main use I got out of the auto attack button also has nothing to do with anything you just typed. So that is probably why you don't understand. Not sure who is making it a big deal either but you seem to think people are.
