    StarCraft 2 Single Player

So, I'm in a bit of a dry spot game wise and I'm looking for a very good single player game to just burn right through.

I've never really been a StarCraft fan, although I haven't really tried it either. I'm a much bigger WarCraft fan. Always has been, always will be.
I'm just wondering if StarCraft 2's single player is any good? I'm a sucker for good RTS games but the genre of space battles and the future isn't that appealing to me.

Anyone can give me some information about the game? Is the single player campaign any good? Is it worth a play-through even though I'm not really a fan of the genre?

It's really good the single player just seems abit short. you can complete it in a day easy, though you can do it again on harder settings but still dosent have the same feel.

I'm not a fan of the genre and I enjoyed the SP

well if u like RTS Starcraft is probably the best u can get if u like fast paced and very provocative rts type

also u can just hop in multiplayer and play some custom maps if u are bored of the campaign

Coming from a Warcraft 2 & 3 player, I loved SC2's singleplayer, I spent many hours doing the campaign, both on normal & brutal mode.

Spent countless of hours doing the achievements for the singleplayer campaign after I beat it on brutal, it's a very good timefiller and I enjoyed every single minute of it. (Except the 9 hours I spent on the last mission on brutal, I almost smashed my keyboard hahahaha. I've had so many restarts.)

The Starcraft 2 campaign is awesome, all the missions have some sort of twist (gimmick if you like) that force you to do more than build defenses > build production facilities > max out on the latest unit > steamroll. Inbetween missions there's a point-and-click interface to move around your ship talking to people (very much like Wing Commander) where you can choose permanent upgrades for units and on occasion make choices between two special upgrades (for example choosing between pop-up flamer turrets or missile launchers on bunkers).

    Why is it?
It's not as good as SC1, but it's decent.

the story is actually pretty nice, you got 2-3 storylines about finding artifacts, exposing the evil emperor and a minor one about saving colonists. there are also 3 missions where you need to choose between 2 fights, where each choice grants you a different bonus. finally, there's a hidden mission and 9 challenge modes that are supposed to prepare you for multiplayer, but are pretty nice.

Way to spoil the upcoming adventures he's going into.

Starcraft 2 single player is totally different than SC1. It's no longer building base -> attacking passive AI.
Each mission is totally different with different objectives and various 'catches'.

For example in one mission you to escort convoys which are attacked by zerg spawning around.
In other mission you have to quickly destroy enemy and constantly relocate your base while map is slowly devoured by fire.
In yet another mission you have to operate on a volcanic planet where part of it is repeatedly flooded with lava.
Or navigate with medivacs in zerg infested city and make strategic air drops.
Or intercept transports while dealing with patrols and escorts.
Or defend your base from zombie swarm at night and nuke zombie nests at day.

Each mission has its catches, which makes it very fun to play. Even after 2-3 times.
I must say it's one of the most entertaining single player RTS games lately.
More fun than Warcraft 3, Starcraft 1, or Age of Empires 2.

But yeah, it's pretty short. Although I guess that by now there are some nice custom maps and scenarios.
I have enough of EA ruining great franchises and studios, forcing DRM and Origin on their games, releasing incomplete games only to sell day-1 DLCs or spill dozens of DLCs, and then saying it, and microtransactions, is what players want, stopping players from giving EA games poor reviews, as well as deflecting complaints with cheap PR tricks.

I'm not going to buy any game by EA as long as they continue those practices.

I had a blast playing it. One of the few single player campaigns in a game I went back and got all the achievements for!

Very fun campaign, beat it a bunch of times to get all the achievements. Good storyline too.

Personally, I felt the Campaign itself was well worth the 60$ or so i payed for the game when it was first released.

Then the multiplayer aspect of the game is also superb (After numerous patches, the game feels... at least a bit balanced >.<)

SC2 is kind of best current RTS around. The single player is tons of fun, and outclasses the warcraft RTS easily, although the original SC did that too.
    It's called Bloodlust not Heroism.
I used to be a good player once. Now I'm a casual
