Light Armor Profession Trouble

So i want to make a character with each of the armor classes. I already have the Medium and Heavy armor i want to play picked out. But i cant decide which Light armor class profession to play. For those that dont know what they are it is Necromancer, Elementalist, Mesmer. They all look like they have playstyles i really like and cant decide which one to go. I know its a little stupid to ask for help on what profession to play but i really cant decide lol. Any help would be appreciated.

But what are your medium/heavy choices? You can kind of go from there: think about your playstyle, do you want similar mechanics, or something radically different.

Example: You've got a thief as your medium: I'm guessing you like to be a pain in the ass or you like spikey damage; mesmers are great pain in the ass type characters, and elementalists play spikey and have lots of utility. If you want a real change goof around with a necro: lots of conditions, survivability, and neat kiss/curse type mechanics.

All the classes share common characteristics because all the boons/conditions are standardized. So you just have to figure out what playstyle you'll enjoy the most, or if you want to change it up.

But really, my first thought is the one that should be considered most seriously. The game isn't even in an 'open' beta phase, we still have a few months to go before we even get into the game so play your two other characters, figure out what you like/dislike about them and take that into account when you make your scholar profession.

Do you like Storm from Xmen? Yes, ele

One of my favorite abilities in WoW was removed (corpse explosion). Its sad enough that the ability was useless, but at least it was entertaining.

But don't know mate...other than reading all about the skills, watching as many gameplay vids as you can and looking at as many armors as you can find...only thing is rolling all three when the game comes out and seeing which you like.

Check the skill tool and check youtube. If you can't decide even after that, then just start leveling your thief/warrior and look closely at light armor classes around you.

You're not helping, I'd have to be all 3 then! I'm leaning towards no-minion necromancer myself, since I just like my casters durable and because I like dark magic and all that. Mesmer's survivability just doesn't really appeal me, depending on the clones and all, having very little defense when you don't have them.

I'd advice to just wait until you get more videos and then pick the one who's playstyle you like the most. Necromancer is more debuffing and slower damage but can survive to see the opponent fall, elementalist just uses some active migitation of damage through spells(temporarily, it's never going to be as sturdy as everything the necro has) and just hard damage, and mesmer through deceiving your enemy he's attacking you while in fact, it's a clone.

I wouldn't say imba. I have faith that Arenanet will be able to balance the classes nicely. Sure, one class may be situationally better, but I'm sure it will be balanced pretty well.
