I see the forest quite clearly, and it's only democrats that create this cult of personality nationally about their candidates. I've never seen it with the republicans.
FDR, JFK, Carter, Clinton, Obama... all had these cult like followings. None of the Republicans did.

This is the example of what the republicans get, revisionists.
Truth starts with a T, you know that thing that people don't want to hear when it doesn't fit the arguments they try to make.
Crutch?
I wouldn't know, I wander off inside my head whenever someone starts talking about god and make everything they say go away.
If you weren't alive in the 70's you might not understand why.
You know, barring Carter (which I've not seen any evidence to support the claim that he has a cult following, considering that everyone considers him to be pretty ineffectual) the reason the people you listed are so heavily 'idolised' I guess, is because they did pretty great things. Obama you can maybe make an exception for since politics has changed so much in the past decade, with character vastly outweighing policies (It's happening in the UK as well sadly, although I hope the recent government will show people it's a stupid idea) the internet, and the fact that most of the press Obama recieved was gifted to him by Republicans. Seriously, the amount of effort being put in to discredit him, the amount of vitriol spewed, for none of it to leave any blemish on Obama is probably the best PR you could have ever given him.
If anything, perhaps we should be asking why Republicans are so obsessed with Obama, perhaps they're being converted into Cult of Obama worshippers (!)
Carter had the "peanut farmer" thing.
They had peanut statues of him and threw peanuts at his inauguration.
Clinton also didn't have a cultlike following, he was just treated very generously by the media.. and subsequently got a lot of credit for everything and anything.
We're not obsessed with Obama, he's just been a terrible president and we can't wait until his bitter concession speech someone else wrote for him he reads off a teleprompter.

well those cults are all the same cult.
Your own post indicates you're obsessed with hating Obama. The teleprompter snark is both silly and misplaced- all politicians use teleprompters, and Romney himself is using them for every speech- and it's well known that Obama has a heavy influence in the writing of his own speeches. Basically, you're throwing snarks around that you know little about, because you hate the guy. Sounds irrational to me.
If your complaint is that he's a good speaker when he has the words in front of him but not good at impromptu speaking, I agree with that. I've never been impressed with Obama in debates. He starts and stops too often, and goes into professorial mode. I don't understand how using a teleprompter is a negative though. It's a pretty useful correction for one of his biggest weaknesses, which is off-the-cuff remarks.
