Okay, story time. So, this summer I worked with a guy who was a brony. At first, I thought it was cool, you know, him and I being all brony and stuff together. However, he would ALWAYS talk to me about it, which was alright, except when the other counselors were around. It was both making me feel weird and ostracizing them from the conversation when he would talk about it. I always wanted to be like, "hey, other counselors, I'm really sorry that he's doing this, and I wish i could make him stop being awkward." At the end of camp, we were talking about leaving and all that, and he says something like "well, we don't have to worry, WE'LL always have a family. [in bronies]" I wanted to punch him in the face and say "FUCK YOU FOR ASSOCIATING ME WITH YOU"

But I just awkwardly agreed. So, yes, I believe it is very easy to be too adamant about something you love.

No, it's a textbook case of a person not understanding the extreme basics of social interaction. I don't know how these people exist. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a social master, but after 20 years of practice, I understand how the very basics of talking to people work.

What are the "extreme basics" anyway? Small talk isn't exactly something I like or even understand (at all), and yet people cite that all the time.

I'd say knowing what is appropriate to say and not to say given your current situation and who you're with. But even more important, is the ability to take hints, both vocal and from body language, that you've crossed the line. Making one slip up in what you say is usually OK, continuing to make that slip up and not picking up on obvious hints is unforgivable.

I never said I didn't agree with him on that. It's moderately easy to understand when you're annoying someone by pestering him w/ the same subject for too long.

As for the conversation bit...not really. I'm quite oblivious to most things, so I have nothing to use in order to create any sort of "small talk"

At least it's the perfect way to annoy someone. Sometimes it's even funnier to see their reaction when they've "had enough" (and to keep pushing even after they've started raging!) than it is to actually talk about that subject.

...although that's probably only ever a good thing when it's done in a private environment.
