Is there a way to simulate leveling a profession?

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a way to simulate leveling a profession - by that, I mean, in essence, be able to see what recipes turn orange/yellow/green/grey at what points in the process of leveling.

I'm currently working on selling Profession Kits, and I needed 20ish Huge Emeralds for the guide I'm using. Since they were 50g per in the AH, I decided to prospect 500g worth of Thorium Ore to get the gems rather than buying them. In the process, however, I managed to get 17 Azerothian Diamonds, 22 Large Opals, 26 Blue Sapphires, and 13 Star Rubies alongside 24 Huge Emeralds. The guide I'm using only has recipes with Huge Emeralds in them to level through that specific area, but I'm trying to find out how I can integrate these other materials into the leveling process.

    Anyone have any advice?

Thottbot's recipe/design database used to be good for this, because it shows the orange/yellow/green/grey level for each recipe.

This is the Jewelcrafting page(s): http://thottbot.com/skill=755

I just don't know how accurate it is, anymore.
I take some solace in the fact that even though my snarky reply to someone's condescending rhetorical question earned me a 1-week ban, my post was not deleted. I was rather proud of that bit of snark, and I am glad it lives on.

If you take a look at the jewelcrafting items list on wowhead, you can see when each item turns colors under the "Skills" column:

    Jewelcrafting(<required level>)
    <Orange> <Yellow> <Green> <Grey>

Wowhead's good up until Cata recipes. Once you hit Cata stuff, for whatever reason, they fucked up royally on professions. Like, unbelievably badly, not even having correct skill levels for when you can train a recipe. I don't think I ever used them for JC stuff in Cata, but I know it's like that for the other crafting stuff, BS, Tailoring, LW, etc.
