    Monks in PvP

Theorycrafting thread: if you don't like this, wait for MoP release and stay out. Most PvP conclusions based on the available information are still somewhat hypothetical.

The new skills and Talents are revealed, the lists seems pretty much complete, though there are still a few details missing on some abilities.

So according to these skills and talents, what do you think where the monks place will be in PvP?
Any thoughts on specific spells / abilities and their impact in PvP?

Couldn't find anything too overpowered atm, except maybe for the AoE Kidney Shot talent:

    Leg Sweep
1 Chi, Instant, 25 sec cooldown
You knock down all enemies within 5 yards, effectively stunning them for 6 seconds.

I have the general impression, that monks will harass meeles more than ranged.

    Chi Wave (LVL 7)
2 Chi, 40 yard range, Instant, 20 sec cooldown
    Requires Serpent Stance
You cause a wave of Chi energy to flow through friend and foe, dealing 3,843 damage or 3,843 healing. Bounces up to 5 times to targets within 10 yard

This possibly could. If it bounces between you and your target

    Ring of Peace
    Instant, 2 min cooldown
Forms a sanctuary around you, causing all enemies to be unable to attack or cast harmful spells while within it. Lasts 10 seconds.

Seems like it would be absurd in arena with a rogue.

This is like an inverted Smoke Bomb, which got nerfed from 10 sec to 5 sec.

Drop a bomb and a ring at the same time and you effectively pause the game for 5 seconds. Then you can prep it for another 5 seconds.

It seems like it would be a nice safety net that would allow for some absurd aggressiveness.

EDIT: I guess that's not quite right. You could throw a Shadowfury in there to screw things up.

I think you mean any lock over level 30 that chose to take it as a talent.

It's pretty much guaranteed to not repeat targets within one cast, just like none of shaman's chains do.

Monks itself as healers gonna be pretty strong with any melee sounds like, with defensive cooldowns like paladins and smart heals when hitting enemies like disc priests they're gonna smash enemies with lets say warrior/rogue or even second monk specced in melee dps.

    Anybody outside of the Ring?

    Grapple Weapon
40 yard range, Instant, 1 min cooldown
You fire off a rope spear, grappling the target's weapon and shield, returning them to you. Depending on the quality of the weapon, your damage done, healing done, and damage reduction may be increased.

Hey.. nice Legendary you have there. I wonder if it works like a disarm for pvp.

Since all spells hit the monk with meditation and rangeweapons are removed for warriors/rogues etc only hunters can hit you now

Most likely a disarm+buff. Predefined amount of buffing when used in PVE.

Ranged weapons are removed, not ranged attacks.

Yeah, a think throws wouldn't count as spell for that.
    Casters are screwed, though.

Cast time reduced by 50% if target is within melee range.

4.5 sec melee res (excluding char haste and haste buffs)

E.g. Imagine you play a night elf monk, and that paralysis lasts 6 seconds like repentance; you can paralyze, shadowmeld, and res in 4.5 seconds.

The fact you have to be in melee range of the course of course makes it easier to interrupt.

EDIT: In 3s, landing a triple fear would be a very good way to land a res. (especially a priest, who could triple fear and power infusion the resser).

    Meditation
    Channeled, 3 min cooldown
Reduces all damage taken by 99% and redirects to you all harmful spells cast against your allies within 30 yards. Lasts 10 seconds.
Being the victim of a melee attack will break your Meditation, cancelling the effect.

    ಠ_ಠ

    I stand corrected.

    Disable
    15 Energy, Melee Range, Instant
You attempte to disable the target's movement, reducing their movement speed by 25%. Stacks up to 2 times.
If you use Disable a third time on a target while they have 2 stacks, all stacks will be consumed and they will be rooted for 8 seconds.

No-cooldown movement reduction/root spam. Yes please.

It will be pretty op like the DK was, everyone will jump on the FOTM, and for 1-2 months you'll have fun until it gets nerfed.
