Is Eve really that bad?

I decided to buy Evelynn today, knowing that she was "bad", and was surprised with how fun she is. A lot of people say she's terrible, and even had a few people call her "trash" while in champion selection, but I ended most games with a positive, fairly marginal score. So that makes me wonder, is she really that bad?

Edit: To make things a bit more clear, what exactly is the reason why everyone thinks she isn't that good?

There are a few reasons. First, she has a high skill cap for her to be an effective hero. Most people are absolutely horrible at ganking and having a hero that doesn't do a ton of damage with a lot of forgiving utility (see Shaco, Rammus, WW, for instance) she tends to not play very well.

The only legitimate reason she isn't that great is when it comes to team fights. Her Q damage is hard to target down one of the heroes. As an assassin, her highest damage over time/bursting is difficult to hit the same champion continuously with if they are paying attention and their team helps. In other words, it is pretty hard for her to get her 'burst' or more 'sustained' damage down on a singular champion, which is the essence of assassin heroes. I'd compare her to Talon, who can jump on one hero, amp damage against them, attack twice, aoe slow and aoe ult out of a fight. She does not have as much utility or aoe damage as a Talon.

All in all, I think she can be an excellent hero if she manages to control the jungle and ganks well, which is a trait that Talon does not have (invisibility for extended periods).

I think it's not so much that she is a completely useless champion, it's more that any other champion that fills the same role brings more to the table for far less effort and with far less risk. It's totally possible to win or do well with her, but it's sort of widely accepted that doing so is a waste of your skill and effort because you could be being so much more effective on another champion.

If you want a stealth jungler pick twitch (or shaco). Higher damage, more utility. Eve used to be such a fun champion. I'm just waiting for teh stealth rework... "soon" only 10months since they called it soon. Will only take some 10-12 months more....

Eve is bad because of 400 gold nullifying the main reason she doesn't go splat instantly.

No personal experience with here, but from what I understand she is weak early and works well only if the team is set up around her. And where are you going to get that. In solo queue no chance and in teams nobody wants to risk it/it's too much of a bother.

But if you are good at the champ ... you can do well regardless of it's strength. I have seen poppy player with 2250 elo who does not play anything else ... if he can't get poppy he dodges the game.

Still Twitch is like a better version of Eve. If you want stealth, it's the go to champ. Shaco gets banned way too much.

The difference is that Poppy is a great champion, though painful to work with in the beginning. She's one of the strongest champions once she gets a modicum of farm.

Yep I agree. I know Scarra wants to try Eve from time to time in solo queue, would be interesting to see what he does with it. There are certain gold per 10 item/rune builds that can turn not so good champs into ok ones, it could work with Eve maybe.

But still ... you want stealth -> Twitch or if Shaco does not get banned ...

Err, i don't wana rain on your parade but at your level it isn't definite enough to prove a point.

Its just like how Twitches always own low level games, because generally they don't bother buying the oracle to counter him. But yet at higher level games, he gets countered easily. Same goes for Eve. But anyway good job. Based from personal experience, pre 30 is where Eve and Twitch really owns.

Showing her success in low level games isn't really relevant. Prove her in level 30 games with a reasonable ELO, then you'll have a leg to stand on.
