    Eternal Sonata.
Active WoW player Jan 2006 - Aug 2020
    Occasional WoW Classic Andy since.
Nothing lasts forever, as they say.
But at least I can casually play Classic and remember when MMORPGs were good.

I know you said 360/PC, but xenoblade is the best JRPG of this generation. It's on par with the greats of yore.

But if you're talking 360/PC specific, why not try Chthulu Saves the World and Breath of Death 7. They're light hearted and short, but worth the minimal cost.

    Lost Odyssey is also good.

Or play an older game with an emulator. The best games I played where the SNES/Super Famicon games. The Playstation 2 games where also superb.

The JRPG selection for 360 and PC is sadly limited. Tales of Vesperia maybe? Lost Odyssey isn't bad, but its nothing special either.

You have any other systems? If you have a DS I highly recommend Radiant Historia and The World Ends With You.

You could also emulate SNES and PS1 games. Most of the best JRPGs are from those eras.

You can emulate PS2 games as well.

Also, you're not a real man until you play through Persona 3 FES or Persona 4.

I CANNOT DECIDE DO I WANT TO TUTOR SCHOOLCHILDREN OR SAVE KANJI TODAY AUUUUUUUGHHHHH

This so much. Every Tales game I've played has been phenomenal. Tales of Vesperia is the only one available for 360 but if you have any older consoles I suggest looking into the others.

such a long list an no mention of the Wild Arms series? FOR SHAME! Wild Arms 2 was a fantastic game. Also mentioning Grandia 3 but not Grandia 2 which I felt was better is very confusing.

AFAIK the Wild ARMs games and most of the Grandia games are not available for the PC or 360. There is a PC version of Grandia 2 though if you can find it.

    And I agree. Grandia 2 > Grandia 3 >>>>>>>>> Grandia 1. WA2 > WA3 > WA1 >>>>>>> all the others

Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

Edited to cover some of my favorites (and ones I've played). Honestly, I refuse to believe you've played through all of those games you listed. That's more hours of gameplay than you have lifetime. You certainly don't have time to browsing forums with that much time spent on games, especially considering that's just JRPGs.

How can you make a list there
Put Suikoden 4 and 5, Star Ocean 3
and not Put Suikoden 1 and 2 for PSone? and Star Ocean 1 for snes and SO 2 for ps1? They are FAR superior games to the ps2 titles said above..

Lufia 1 and 2 for SNES are awesome
Basically any RPG Made for the snes and ps1 have been the pinnacle of RPG gaming, anything later than that was spoiled by graphics, and you rarely pick up an amazing storyline (there are quite a few exceptions, but nothing topping suikoden, or som for example)

I agree for the most part (Suikoden 2 is possibly my favorite RPG ever) but there's some really good stuff for the PS2 as well. For the past few years though there just aren't that many JRPGs being made period, let alone very many good ones. Especially for consoles. These days if you want JRPGs you have to look to handhelds. There are some really good games on the DS and PSP. (The World Ends With You and Radiant Historia are some of the best RPGs I've played in a long time.)

I know I mention these two games in ever JRPG/turn based RPG thread but check out Anachronox and Septerra Core on PC, both are made by western companies but both are heavily based off of JRPG game play, Anachronox I believe was said by the creators to have been inspired by Chrono Trigger while Septerra Core is more heavily JRPG themed in character design, story and some other elements. There is also a third PC RPG called Icarus: Sanctuary of the Gods that is heavily based off of JRPGs but not as well known as the previous two I mentioned though still decent, its also more of a strategy RPG.

Also its probably already been mentioned but Blue Dragon on 360 is my favorite modern era JRPG since it reminds me so much of the classic SNES era ones.

On DS also check out both of the Mario & Luigi games as well as the GBA one if you have an original DS or DS Lite, I love the combat system in those games. Some of my other favorite DS RPGs are Nostalgia, the Etrian Odyssey games, The Dark Spire, Glory of Heracles and even though its not a JRPG I have to recommend Orcs and Elves, its sort of like a slightly turn based style Elder Scrolls game and its such a great hidden gem for the system.

Septerra Core lives occupies an odd place in my mind. The game itself wasn't that good but the setting and the idea behind it was so good that I enjoyed it anyway. (and I'm always shocked every time I run into someone else who's actually played it. Most people have never even heard of it.)

    Agree with this.

XenoBlade is really really good, liking it alot, its what every final fantasy after 10 should have been like.
