    D3dark against the rules.

I've seen a few threads about this, and one even here on mmo-champion. People were saying it's okay to use, but blue just confirmed it's against the rules. I wouldn't suggest using it, if you were planning on it.

Eh, messed up title name. It's DarkD3, not D3dark. My apologies.

EDIT: Good news! You might be able to use DarkD3 afterall!

    "At your own risk."

Pretty much the same answer they have given for all their games forever.

He said ALL mods are against the ToS for D3, unlike WoW and SC2 stuff....

Again, it's not a mod. It doesn't modify the game files in a any way. This works for any game you want it to, you just have to create the profile for it. It's nothing more than a custom driver.

The thread is specifically about darkd3, and that's the blue post towards it. They are considering it a mod, because it isn't part of the actual game. I personally couldn't care less if people use it or not, just don't be surprised if you get your account closed for using it, like the blue said.

How bad does a PC need to be to even need this, lol.

This may be considered nitpicking, but it is a "mod" as it does "modify" the look/feel of the game. It isn't an intrusive mod, which is probably what you meant, but I do understand Blizzards desire to do a broad denial of all mods even if they don't make any actual changes to game files.

What I don't think people understand, is that their opinion that it isn't a mod, is irrelevant. The post was about about DarkD3, and the blue responded with ALL mods, implying they consider it one, can result in account closure. Only their opinion on what's a mod and what isn't matters.

I agree with you, and think it's a mod too.

Maybe I'm a dumb ass for asking this but if you use Dark3D how are they even going to know you're using it in the first place? It doesn't actually do anything but sharpen and darken the graphics.

I personally, have no idea. Maybe with a warden type program like WoW has? I believe DarkD3 is a download and it goes in diablo folder, so I'm sure if they scan stuff like warden does for WoW, they'll see it. Either way, I'm pretty confident they have their ways to tell if you're using it or not.

EDIT: Here's another thing from twitter from Jay Wilson himself, saying specifically, Darkd3 can result in a ban.

https://twitter.com/#!/Angryrobotics...05207039578113 Also edited the twitter link to 1st post.

They could make a script that checks is the darkd3 process is running.

Guess people will have to adjust their monitors themselves then.

It's a safe bet to assume that we'll see a variant of Warden in D3, and it can read all the memory that the D3 executable touches, and part of that is the graphics driver and it's shaders, which includes DarkD3.

There are always ways to exploit it so that Warden won't detect a thing

It's your choice if you want to risk your account, because you think you're smarting than Blizzard.

Personally, if I had to bet, I'd put my money on Blizzard.

Then.. upgrade your computer? I had no "blurry stuff" at all when I was playing. The game looked great

It's not a mod, no matter what you say. It's entire concept was created by nvidia, it's an advanced option for your drivers. It' no different than turning on anti-aliasing. God.

Mods change game file or shape packets or how you interact with the game. This doesn't, instead of it showing 1 color value it shows another. It applies to thing outside the game if you want it to. He simply said use at your own risk because he isn't sure if warden will detect it and flag it or not and he doesn't want to be responsible for it.

If it was considered a mod he would have said using it would result in a ban, but he did not.

Mod change game file or shape packets, this does neither. He simply said use at your own risk because he isn't sure if warden will detect it or not and doesn't want to be responsible for it.

The tweet, however, is pretty definitive on their stance.

"using programs that alter graphics is against TOS and can get you banned."

Once again, your "opinion" on what's a mod, is irrelevant. There is also a second link now, also specially asks about DarkD3, and Jay Wilson himself states it can get you banned. The only opinion if it's a mod or not is Blizzards, and they are considering it one. Your opinion, irrelevant.

i fiddled with the graphic(gamma and some other stuff) setting in d3 open beta and got same result as this "mod" for a darker apparantly more "d2" game, dont see why you cant do that in live.
