    [SPOILERS] (End Cinematic) Really Blizzard?

Seriously, what is with them and "Age/Dawn of Mortals"? First it was the end of the Dragon Soul cutscene, now this?

Also, I never got to watch the at the end of Act 3 where Diablo possessed Leah, but in the last cinematic, is it just me, or is the Black Soulstone falling down, not destroyed, making an opening for another sequel?

If you are playing diablo for the plot, you're gonna have a bad time.

But yeah, the DS ending was the lamest ending in history, the diablo one was very similar too, though it wasn't about all angels becoming mortal, it was just tyreal, but he's basically the aspects combined.
    dictated but not read.

I liked the ending. Even though this is my first Diablo game I have ever played, I do get some of the lore and such. In the end we see the Black Soulstone falling, but it falls to where? No one knows whats in the bottom of the Heavens. Could be like an infinite, never-ending, drop. The Prime Evils could still be in the stone. And Leah's mother is still out there who can do whatever the "hell" (haha) she wants. And my basic understanding of the Diablo Lore, isn't that one guy who use to be the Archangel of Wisdom still out there?

These are just little bits of information that can lead of to the expansions of Diablo 3.

I didn't care for the ending, but for different reasons.

It pretty much completely ignores the tragedy of Leah's loss, and it seems to forget about Adria's betrayal. They were so hung up in the feelgood/age-of-man stuff that they glossed over the 2 most significant moments of the story, IMO.

Aye, from what I understand the Black Soul Stone fell to earth, and Adria is still running about. Hello Expansions.

So Tyrael is mortal, who is going to be Wisdom. Forever. As a mortal.

I liked the ending. It's meant to look all peaceful and look like we took care of the problem, but it's not the case. It setting the universe up for a massive fall. Tyreal is wrong. The evils will return to the soulstone just like the old ones, not the abyss. We still have an extremely dangerous Adria to deal with. On top of all that the prophecy of end days has yet to fully happen, as wisdom has not returned as Death. Everyone thinks everythings ok now, when really shit is just about to hit the fan. Wisdom/Death is going to wreak some serious havoc since noone sees it coming in game. Like all the angels will be gone and he'll have the black soulstone gathering their souls kind of havoc. Or he will of fully corrupted them, and we will be forced to slay them all while Adria puts them in elsewhere. Then we will have angels, evils and the balance the Nephalem Leah in the stone. Crazy stuff.

It's simply the "dawn" of mortals because justice is our duty now because Tyreal moved to wisdom. "As Justice falls upon the world of men..."

The generalist looks outward; he looks for living principles, knowing full well that such principles change, that they develop. It is to the characteristics of change itself that the mentat-generalist must look. There can be no permanent catalogue of such change, no handbook or manual. You must look at it with as few preconceptions as possible, asking yourself, "Now what is this thing doing?" -Children of Dune

I have this crazy feeling the expansion will be something about Leah's mother...just that feeling...considering she kind of disappears and you don't see her again.
I cried alone every single night. It felt like every day that passed here stole another piece of my real life away. After i cried, I’d go and fight as hard as I could. My only thought was winning, moving forward, and getting stronger. — Asuna Yuuki

Oh, nice. I originally interpreted it as referencing his fall to mortality, but I suppose it serves something of a double meaning in that regard, since I'm sure if anything Justice-related needed to be done in the short term, the hero from D3 would get called upon to do it.

Expansions my friend. Im pretty sure diablo 3 will have an expansion, and hunting down Adria and Figuring out what happend to Leah's soul is a good start. Especially considering all the dialogue centering around Leah, Including The Enchantress, Covetus Shen and Tyrael. Go talk to those people about Leah and tell me they aren't going to finish off that plot hole.

Blizzard is not going to wrap up the whole Diablo story in Diablo 3. They are gonna leave parts of it open for future expansions that will answer the peoples questions. I remember a few months ago (don't ask me for source because I can't seem to find it) but a guy game Christ Metzen a question which asked, "Is Diablo 3 going to be the last Diablo game?" And his response was, "There is going to be more Diablo games, I don't know when, but it isn't going to follow the story of Diablo 1-3."

If anyone can refind the source for me, that would be amazing.

I read somewhere that Diablo 4 is pretty much coming either way, an open ending which also allows for expansion is much better as wrapping it all up tbh.

Edit: Ok, above poster is right, it still counts for the expansions though.

Reminded me of Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos's ending.

From the cinematic, it seems like everything is good and peaceful, with the major baddie down(minus the soulstone dropping ).
But as we know, there were a lot of 'unanswered' questions that were addressed in TFT and some were concluded in WoW.

    Expac for D3 inc!

There are other bits that have not yet come to pass, either:

And at the end of days, Wisdom shall be lost
as Justice falls upon the world of men.
    Valor shall turn to Wrath--
and all Hope will be swallowed by Despair.
Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all--
    As Fate lies shattered forever.

Brother Malachi is also a great source of prophetic lines. Here's one I've yet to fully puzzle out:
"What was once one shall become four. Though the three shall become one, never again will the four be whole."

I know it's referring at least partially to the Lesser Evils (the four) and the Prime Evils (the three), but it seems like there's more to it... The second sentence seems to be referring to Diablo as the Prime Evil and suggesting that the Lesser Evils are gone for good, the first sentence is a bit of an enigma still.

The Age of Mortals theme will result in 2 world wars and a space race followed by global terrorism. Oh wait...

Same...though I'd be willing to bet Leah isn't dead, and more than anything, I really wanted to slug Imperius in the face for being a douchebag. Oh well, the story sufficed for what the game is, for me at least.

Id argue that MMO champ is a blizzard-centric forum. But if you were just saying that this is not THE blizzard forums, then yeah. Dont know why youd say that though.

I do not play World of Warcraft. WOW had no relevance on the D3 ending for me.

the Black Soulstone falling down, not destroyed, making an opening for another sequel?
Of course! They wouldn't leave room for the xpac and maybe 6 or so years from now, D4.
