    [Movies] Space Sci-FI Horror. Recommendations?

I've been getting into Space-based Sci-Fi horror as of late, movies like Event Horizon, Alien and to an extent Sunshine.

Could anyone reccommend any simmilar movies that would be worth picking up? I'm talking a crew, isloated in space with something killing them, that sorta deal, almost a space slasher if you wanna call it that although I wouldn't or just a horror in space if there aren't that many movies of the sort.

Whilst I appreciate the "classics", I do prefer more modern movies, 80's onwards purely because seeing Sci-Fi movies with old-school special effects makes me cringe for no good reason.

    Thanks in advance!

    Desp.

Fits some of the criteria you mentioned. Solid film.

Looks good, I'll be sure to check it out, thanks!

The first two you listed are my favorites, but let's see here...
Pandorum was pretty good. Then again when I saw it I was watching it with my ex, she was freaking out the entire time, which was what made it fun for me, and there was a dude we named Queequeg after the harpoon dude in Moby Dick.
If you want to watch a hilariously bad space horror watch the Jason one where it's in the 'future'. Same thing can be said about the Dracula movie (Dracula 3000 or something like that).
OH, Dead Space! Watch the Dead Space movies, there are two animated Dead Space movies, they're pretty good. The first one was at least, I think the second animatrix styled one (several art/animation styles and directors) I only saw parts of.
There was a good Mars one, but I forget what it was called.
Just because we're on the subject of Sci-fi space movies, you have to watch 2001: A Space Oddesy or read the book. You'll be introduced to the very first homicidal AI that puts Glados to shame.
I know there are like five to seven more good ones, but their names escape me at the moment, sorry >:

Ghosts of Mars? And yeah, Dead Space was pretty decent.

I saw Jason X. I quite liked it, because I'm a Friday fanboy. From an unbiased, critical perspective the movie was very poor.

Also, you mentioned Dead Space. I can't remember their names, but the black guy who helps you out during the first half of Dead Space had his face modeled off the guy from Jason X who takes Jason out.

I've read the Oddesy book, very good stuff, I'd much rather read the book than watch it's movie counterpart.

Thanks for the suggestions folks, just looking for some weekend entertainment

Ok to start with its an old transitional Sci-Fi, its not very scary by today's standards but it its the grandfather of Modern Horror Sci-Fi: "Planet of the Vampires"
(interesting side not it was 90% responsible for Alien, Basic Plot, look and feel)
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059792/

The next suggestion had the creep factor and suspenseful drama: "Saturn 3"
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079285/

I would say if pure terror was wanted in your Sci-Fi even if it was terrestrial : "the Thing" (1982) the others are meh.
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084787/

Also this is a good list, although I would have do these films in a different order.

Pitch Black - its a great early Vin Desiel movie, although its not his typical "vin desiel" movie its more of a Sci-Fi horror movie.

Alien, Aliens, Saturn 3, Planet of the Vampires, Lifeforce, the Thing, Scanners, Dreamscape, Pitch Black, Outland, The Fly, Altered States, Videodrome, The Blob, Bad Taste, Species, Astronauts Wife, Mimic, The Hidden, Predator, The Terminator ... (I can make a very large list of competition)

I can come up with a list. Granted Event Horizon was in the top Ten of all time. it also has production value so it rates close to the top.

I guess that list pretty much sums up what you're looking for. Don't let the bad scores scare you away, as you can see Pandorum only has 27%, Event Horizon 23%.

I was gonna post this, while I've not seen it myself (sci-fi horror is not really my genre), I've been told it's really good.

It's hard to pick out any other movies like that unless you want to go really campy.

I mean.. It's not in space but Leviathan maybe??

    Pandorum 101 % no DOUBT !

If you like Movies Space Sci-FI Horror, I even more highly recommended Pandorum film, if you ask me why ? co’z no one can top this movie co’z this is the Best, Excellent and even more Outstanding space movie ever so far. For me this is the best sci-fi in the last decade, the only one which I enjoyed from beginning to the end without being bored for just one minute or even half of minute ! Very suspenseful and engaging throughout. This was and is, an excellent movie well scripted, awesome acting and surprising twists leave this movie with you catch into it. A must watch for space thriller fans! Dark, full of terror, suspense, really excellent movie, excellent acting of all cast especially for the main character Ben Foster and Antje Traue... hopefully, there’s coming second part of the movie Pandorum isn't suppose to be an action space flick, it’s not a generic star wars clone And it is defiantly not a AvP off. It isn't supposed to be, this movie is more of mystery suspense with a mint of tragedy. I thought this movie wasn't going to be good at all, but I was way wrong! This movie is extremely awesome. It kind of reminded me of Dead Space. Great story (always kept you trying to figure things out) a must see. This movie has Intense, very scary, great actors and a space ship full of monsters. Great set design and the movie has its own feel. Original story line (not another reboot), A bit like aliens/event horizon/and a zombie movie so perfect for me I LOVED IT!!!!! In addition this is vastly underrated movie. One of the best space films of recent years. Great story, with plenty of twists and a great ending, cool mutant design as well I found it so amazing!, reminds me Dead Space video game. It’s a survival horror movie which has its thrilling moments, really very good story and creepy creatures. I enjoyed much more than the last 5 Resident evil and other space movies, so for me this one is the best Sci-Fi movies I have ever seen. Excellent cast, involving story, crazy action, scary moments, adventurous. a very excellent movie to watch at night in the dark. Worth buying, entertaining enough to watch more than once. Alien, Event Horizon, and now Pandorum - Gothic science-fiction horror. Pandorum is an original story with a great twist that actually make s sense, excellent acting with believable characters, all in an imaginative environment. Its dark, very scary, and very serious stuff. TRUST ME THIS MUCH MORE FAR CREEPIER THAN EVENT HORIZON! EXTREMELY EXCELLENT AMAZING MOVIE!
