I love satyrs so much in wow, if wow could do one thing to please me more than anything it would be to add a third faction which just had demonic reces such as satyrs, nathrazym, fel guards etc. <3

Gotta go with human. Since my characters are females, most of the time the other races besides elves are fugly. I just wish design teams took the same amount of time as other races to make humans look good, not just the typical human. Not to praise, but I do enjoy the options given to me in Guild Wars 2. I love customization like that in my MMO's. Customization plays a huge role for me in MMOs. All about looking good.
All of them. And + robotic race.
Rincewind: Ah! We may, in fact, have reached the root of the problem. However it's a silly problem and so I am suddenly going to stop talking to you.
The better character questionnaire (D&D)
Has there been a recent popular MMO where the only playable race was human? I don't recall off hand. I'm someone who would enjoy such a thing if everything else was done right. But like you said, players want customization. And it seems like it would be hard to limit choice at this point. It seems like every new MMO on the market brings at least 6 different races these days. Granted, there is not always a "big" difference between them. But, that's a whole different topic.

Looking forward to Everquest 3 myself but only if they add Frogloks again
Why can't I downvote this to oblivion?
Speaking of Tera though, I want elfs like they have in every mmo out there (meaning only fem elfs here, males are just plain gay). Tall, beautiful, elegant, busty. Real elfs.
Humans are needless to mention. I'd prefer to see dwarves, even though I only accept WoW-like dwarfs. And I know people like to play beastmen, even though I could never understand it. So some minotaur or satyr-like creatures are a must.
fantasy MMOs with elves and sword fighting animals should die a quick, painful death.
Personal opinion.
Space blueberries...I actually checked human since it's a staple in fantasy mmos, but anything seems to go these days
I wonder how hard it must be to develop a successful MMO, I don't know much about it so fill me in but before even starting wouldn't a good idea be to take the best features of the top 3 MMOs? Look at what WoW has, incorporate some of its features into your game and boom. Don't do what SWTOR and have a ton of servers, start off with fewer and as the game becomes more popular open more servers with free server transfers to them. To me that seems to be common sense and if you cannot implement what WoW and other top MMOs have then don't even bother entering the MMO market.
Personally, I think the more races you have the better the game becomes. Opens up the storyline for a game so much rather than strictly one race.
I don't think the MMO genre is dying out per se, its just that people are spreading into more games, since MMO diversity is increasing all the time. Perhaps the genre will stretch itself super thin eventually, but the player base is growing all the time too.
On topic of races: I don't see humans going away any time soon, as well as hulk/brutish races (basically every MMO I can remember, except for Secret World, had one of those) and midget races (again, almost every game had one). Other than that, we might see more of tame experimentation with non-human, humanoid races (the biggest disappointment in recent times for me have been Sylvari. For a "plant" race, they look remarkably human). And yes, I know GW2 lore says the plants look like humans because it was a human druid who planted the Pale Tree, but to me its just a cop-out. It would be amazing to have non-humanoid races, but I guess artists cant be arsed making art for those.
One of the races I would like the MMO to have would have been fairies :3
They are so cute and can definately be formidable as spellcasters/healers!
It is important to have humans in fantasy enviornments. If only to make the other races differ more from our percepted norm. Loosing humans would most likely result in elves getting "degraded" to the normal race (like in Zelda) and therefore pale.
