Below is a list of popular wow terminology along side their GW2 counterparts. Please be aware that some of these terms can not be directly translated due to the vast number of differences between the two games. This list is purely for reference and should serve as a nice starting point for players making difficult decision to start over in a brand new game.
This thread will be updated as time goes by and is open to suggestions.

Things To Know:
Many "quests" like hearts and events do not require you to talk to an NPC to collect the quest. Just join in!
Profession Stations also act as a bank.
Mail can be collected anywhere in the world, no need for mailboxes.
There are no mounts in the game.
You do not need to spend time travelling, open the map, click the nearest waypoint and you are teleported there.
Gathering is not a profession, you simply equip the necessary tools and collect materials from nodes.
You can learn 2 of the 8 crafting professions. When you unlearn a profession, you do not lose discovered recipes if you switch back.
