    About the only reason to deny highest resolution textures on 32-bit system is if a sum of system RAM and VRAM used exceeded 4GB, making memory unaddressable on a 32-bit system.
    for example windows xp cannot use official more then 2 GB per application so it kinda prevents textures that require a lot of ram.

    I had the same problem when upgrading from windows 7 to windows 8.
    A new graphics card driver fixed it for me.

    Use the /3GB command on startup. Also this applies to system RAM only.
