I second this notion. I have an ex-marine friend, he saw action, real action, and he doesn't talk about that kind of stuff even to us, let alone in the middle of a job.
I like Muse enough, from what I've heard, but for some reason I didn't peg you as a fan of that kind of music.

Well, part of the problem is that there's very little publicity about upcoming albums from Muse, so sometimes it feels like they give up since you don't really hear them on the radio and you don't see them touring much and they don't give info about new releases.
Also, when they were a newer band they were releasing stuff at a faster pace.
There was:
Showbiz (1999)
Origin of Symmetry (2001)
Hullabaloo Soundtrack (2002)
Absolution (2003)
Absolution Tour (2005)
Black Holes and Revelations (2006)
HAARP (2008)
The Resistance (2009)
The 2nd Law (2012)
So releases were coming out every 2 years, and in between they were still doing stuff, whereas recently there was neither hide nor hair of them from 2009 til just now.
So, no, it's not a 10 year gap or anything, but it still feels glacial when they drop off the face of the earth like that.
I surprise people from time to time. The song that got me hooked was Apocalypse Please, although I do like some of the recent stuff too, like Madness and Exogenesis Symphony.
Muse does a loooot of different stuff in a lot of different styles, and you can find titles that are polar opposites of each other, so I'm fairly sure almost anyone can find at least one Muse song that they don't hate.
