Also, Shae, don't bother upgrading to Windows 8 (warning: personal opinion ahead). It's really not designed properly for a non-tablet. Please take this from the word of a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.

Yeah. Speaking of which, I need to figure out what to do in order to install my OS on my computer. My CD drive is still IDE and my mobo doesn't have that old crap.

Yup, that's the key you would need. Then, make sure that what you download from MSDN matches exactly what you've got: eg, if you've got Windows 7 Professional don't go downloading Home, or whatever.

Uhh, I dunno. I know with XP I could do that. Haven't tried with windows 7, I'm pretty sure those keys are OEM and tied to the mobo.
