Want To Recruit - Dwarf Priest!!!
Not sure if it was mentioned - afair bit of raids in XR (Crossroads for anyone who has forgotten), and for ages there only been one GY in barrens, AV taking what felt like forever to win/lose.

That faction reps were prorated down if you were over the level, and grey quests would only give ~5-10rep per quest, as opposed to the usual 250rep per you get now regardless of level.
When mages and priests had "Wand Mastery" in their arcane/disc talent trees, respectively.
When Ret's capstone 31 point talent was... Blessing of Kings... yet many healers could still do a 20/0/31 build for kings and still be a functioning buffbot/cleansebot for their raids.

I was gutted when they removed capatin placeholder .... /mourn
Original Hunter quest for the bow, which could transform into a staff ... that never got used. Then they fixed it so you got a bow and staff lol
Headmasters charge <3
Stitches!!!!!
and that sodding wind elemental in westfall .....
Lag and the portal into MC.....
and PvP at TM loved it at the time lol
Science has made us gods even before we are worthy of being men: Jean Rostand. Yeah, Atheism is a religion like bald is a hair colour!.
Classic: "The tank is the driver, the healer is the fuel, and the DPS are the kids sitting in the back seat screaming and asking if they're there yet."
Irony >> "do they even realize that having a state religion IS THE REASON WE LEFT BRITTEN? god these people are idiots"
This maybe my server only but... In Vanilla STV & TM were the 2 World PvP Zones... Used to have actual 20+ each side, WARS... Was fun as hell.

I haven't played as long as most of you have, but I do have some fond memories.
-Getting your first epic and standing in Org/IF with loads of "lowlevel" toons inspecting and admiring
-The four dragon world bosses
-When, as a warrior tank, farming for General Drakkisaths shield and it never dropping (for the fire res)
-When dps didn't matter.
-Sitting 40 people on TS screaming at the same time when a boss died for the first time
-When, as a newly dinged level 60 you were the sh*t and getting your first blue from UBRS was almost euphoric
-Farming battlegrounds and reputation with Frostwolf to get the Unstoppable force and the quest for the "Ice Barbed Spear"
-When everyone that when a certain player entered the BG you had won/lost (since back then there were threads about people that were awesome and the other faction actually feared meeting them
-If you remember "That's the world of warcraft that you play" and "The internet is for porn"
-When BWL was considered the hardest of the hard.
-When getting an epic meant you had actually put down time and hard, hard work to get.
-When titles mattered and were worn proudly.
-The elite mobs being unsoloable.
-When people were running around with 2-3k health and a video of a HWL Tauren warrior critted for 1000+ was awesome
-When getting into the inn of Southshore as a horde were quite the accomplishment!
I could probably get more if I checked...oh, got a few nice screens!
Can't post links yet, but just try to work around it... if you CBA.

Haha wow, nostalgia definitely kicked in after hearing xroads/tarren mill.. I remember landing in the TM and 90% of the NPCs would be dead, definitely don't see that happen very much nowadays.
You know when you played vanilla when AV would last DAYS..and it would be amazing to be there for a victory.
You know when you played vanilla when first portion of your MC raid would consist of pvping outside the portal.
Oh. another one of these.
"You know if you played vanilla" lines usually used by wrath babies to hide their shame in 1, 2, 3... GO:
/quotes all lines posted here
Profit.
You know you played in Vanilla when you look at your payment history and the start date is January 23, 2005.
When Mages owned Warriors hands down all the time.
When Attunements were still a thing.
When Rank 14 meant you had no life.
When you avoided Dishonorable Kills like the plague.
When LFM Test of Skulls Need 1 DPS, we have Ring.
I...I don't get how I played with that UI.
Holy fuck.
(If it's too big/no images, I'll remove it, just let me know)
HA! I found my old photobucket with a bunch of raiding and general screenshots. God, I was dumb.

If you remeber just because the option was open to buy the mount at 40 you didn't have the money till 60. I remember seeing my first mount I was so jealous.
You know you played vanilla if you ever encountered the INSANELY huge nameplates, most often in BGs
You know you played vanilla if you cringed anytime "Tribute run" was mentioned in the guild chat.
You know you played vanilla if you wore green and blue gear for ragnaros and vael.
You know you played vanilla if you made all your gold as a rogue in feralas and WPL.
You know you played vanilla if "LOOT THE DOG" was one of the most frequent phrases ever said in raid chat or ventrilo/TS2.
You know you played vanilla if shazzrah was where you skilled your ranged weapons up as melee.
You know you played vanilla if you bought minor beastslayer just to have a glowing weapon (yes I did that)
You know you played vanilla if you remember "Where can I find Mankrik's Wife?"
You know you played vanilla if you used Thottbot or Allakhazam.
You know you played vanilla if you spent most of the boss fight afk as a warlock.
You know you played vanilla if you farmed worthless lowlevel crap for the gates of ahn'qiraj.
And finally:
You know you played vanilla if you were absolutely fucking clueless about the game, compared to how you are now.

If you were Horde, you loved Sergra Darkthorn. If you were Alliance, you hated her.
... and if you joined later, you have no idea why anyone would care about her.
