You at least have a few dots you can throw while moving Scath, as it stands our main "nuke" frostbolt got nerfed to allow for icicles mastery and we could never cast while moving so double penalized (can now x3 spells if talent is taken at the cost of a "sprint).
You won't find solace here
They also say that they're trying to make as few spells different in PvE and PvP as possible. Not to mention "buff Ice Lance" is just a band-aid. If we reach a certain threshold in our gear, it could be a DPS loss again...not to mention, they seem to have deliberately worked to make the damage hierarchy FFB > IL > FB, so bearing that in mind, I think there's only so far they are going to buff JUST Ice Lance, if they go that route.
Just wondering how much damage the 4p Icy Boulder does. Last I read it wasnt much, but that was early ptr and I didnt keep up with it.
As for Ice Lance being an undesirable button to press. Give FoF IL a 60% chance to drop Icy Boulder on the target along with BF FFB 30% chance.
I killed Sha of Pride 25 heroic earlier as frost, and am likely one of maybe 2 mages in the world to do so. It actually wasn't too bad, being high on corrupted fragment and large adds, but mediocre on boss / reflections. The room is yet another idiotically designed room where blink fizzles upon encountering the large circle in the middle or any of the prison circles.
I just went frost because there's so much movement with prisons / rifts / repositioning that I was doing about the same DPS with either spec (frost or arcane), so went with one that was more fun to play.

Hm tried Frost on Sha heroic too, but it was not as viable as Arcane! Frost couldn´t deliver what was needed. High burst on small adds, big adds and fragments! Double blink and bs solved the movement part with rifts. Galakras is an Arcane fight, because of Nether Tempest, Iron Juggernaut is a Rune of Power fight (heal) this early in progression and Arcane was miles ahead of Frost there. Dark Shamans is a fire mage fight and if you are lucky with random sh.. an okay Arcane fight. Frost just underperforms on Dark Shamans aswell.
Yes Frost is fun to play, but it´s the first time Frost is a real burden! We are not talking of 5 or 10k difference, we are talking about 50k+ difference. Looking 2 - 3 times a day on mmo front, because there could be news for Frost : /
reflection on why:
- Frost is specialised a little too much (cleave 2 targets).
- Frost don't do better than Arcane/Fire in cleave fight (2 targets).
- Arcane is way better when Bomb's dps is primordial.
- Fire is much better when mobility is important.
Some know issues:
any other thought ?
- 2 mandatory glyph for 3 slots.
- no slot for utility glyph or at big cost.
- IL only scale with Intellect making it less interesting in high gear
This is why! I would add one more thing:
Due mastery and Arcane Charge™, Arcane is the only viable option if you have to bomb (Arcane Explosion) high amount of adds with or without low hp. If you`re able to sync with Arcane Power, Arcane does what? 3 - 3,5x more damage than frost and fire? With the same spell?
I think everyone is just doing it wrong.
They'll claim I was padding. I mean, NT is going to pad by nature but it increases single target DPS.

Proves I was correctly target switching.
I did about 15k higher than the #1 parsing fire mage and would have been #3 arcane mage with my 331k dps.
Frost now isn't the same as 5.4. You have to make incredibly clever decisions on snapshot and trinket play. Cone of Cold has a place now too. And haste, omg haste. Stop trying to get away from haste.
23rd overall dps: http://worldoflogs.com/rankings/play...laxxi/25N/dps/
I watched the stream for some of your paragons attempts, myself any anyone watching knew you were padding. Rolling NT on 2 targets that get healed to full I'm sorry to say is padding. The reason you ranked so high is no one is in padding mode, switch to living bomb on your primary target and see what your numbers look like.
Using non-crit numbers here's some basic theory for ya Kenbud:
NT ticks on A for 16000, sending 8000 to target B or C. Yielding 16000 effective damage for 1 GCD per tick
NT ticks on B for 16000, sending 8000 to target A or C. A is the only effective damage and 50% chance of hitting A. Yielding 4000 effective damage for 1 GCD per tick
NT ticks on C for 16000, sending 8000 to target A or B. A is the only effective damage and 50% chance of hitting A. Yielding 4000 effective damage for 1 GCD per tick
Within 3 GCDs, you are able to get 16000 + 4000 + 4000 per tick, or 24000 assuming even probability of choosing A over the other. In the case of the ones that like to dart outside the 10yd range, you will see 8000 effective per tick.
I range between 19 and 21 ticks depending on what's up. We'll use 20 ticks to keep the scenario simple:
NT on A = 19*16000 = 304000 + 36% crit rate = 413440
NT on B = 19*4000 = 76000 + 36% crit rate = 103360
NT on C = 19*4000 = 76000 + 36% crit rate = 103360
Considering ice lance hits for ~100k, the DPCT of putting NT on multiple targets sure seems worth it to me.
I advise not to roll NT on more than 3 targets simply because then things start to fall apart. You begin to run into opportunity cost by choosing to spend your GCDs
I would venture a complaint about looking at Paragons in the first place. I stack haste, so Essence of Yu'lon, splitting ice, and CoC are all padding just by their own nature.
Another advantage to NT on Paragons though is to DoT up the Kunchongs and Bloods.
Also, still not a fan of haste?
I had 80 brain freeze procs using NT. Each mage using LB that I found had 40-50. Those are buffing my other spells by 20%.

In what universe does ice lance hit for only 100K? Considering mastery, even a frostbolt cast at the main target would have been more potential damage than putting NT on a secondary, useless target.
Ice lance hits for me for roughly 100K... with no buffs, flask, procs or anything else. In a raid setting FoF ice lance will be quite a lot more than that.
Also.. 36% crit rate? What? Unless you have two trinket procs together.. no.
That's what I averaged on the fight. My NT cleave had a 36.1% crit rate, the direct ticks had a 36.7% crit rate. 2 int proc trinkets greatly impact the average.
You're correct on the IL damage, it's wrong to compare it to that, but the 100k was the splitting ice component that I looked at in error. Mine were hitting around 180k. That said, I burn FoF charges whenever they proc, refreshing NT on off-targets is never, ever, ever, ever, ever the priority.
