People believe random stranger when he confirms their preconceived notions - and often take their arguments uncritically.
Anyone who ever read more then one thread here knows that this is more of constant stream of contrarian takes on anything bouncing off each other. If you stay long enough then you'll find someone defending or attacking pretty much any position; people actually changing their position are exceedingly rare.
Posting here is primarily a way to strengthen your own viewpoint against common counter-arguments.
Thousands, millions, sometimes billions of people hold same ideology and react similarly to various events.A way to imagine this would be some kind of product you need. Maybe it's for your car or house. Whatever. It's not something you know a lot about and isn't mainstream. So you google it. Along the way you find people discussing it on a forum and you see some guy posted that he bought it and it's working just fine. They might even post pictures/videos of it (provided by the client). So now you feel confident about buying it. This happens a lot. Same goes for political ideas.
Ability to rise above noise through "random posting", to actually guide it rather then add to it, remains unproven. It certainly doesn't seem to work in their own country for Russia.
Modern "media personalities" - both traditional and new like youtubers and streamers - those can have quite measurable impact.
