I was ambidextrous as a child, but my teachers trained me to be only right handed. That sure pissed off my parents.

Ah that sucks, why would a teacher do such a thing? Course, I didn't realize I was ambidextrous until I broke my pinky on my right hand and because of the massive cast required for a pinky break, I couldn't use it, so started writing left handed then. And throwing when I found out my elbow's growth plates are all kinds of fucked up which made me want to throw left handed because of intense pain caused by throwing right handed. (This ended my pitching in baseball, which was my favorite thing to do, and my interest in sports in general)

I can write ambidextrously, along with throwing, and catching, and shooting. But, I'm left-eye dominant.

Being lefthanded in some parts of the world is still seen as a sign of being evil, I would think that such outdated thinking would be almost entirely nonexistent now, but perhaps that's a possibility.

Sucks about the sports though.

I'm also left-eye dominant. Though, that is because the vision in my right eye is insanely horrible.
It sure would be nice to be ambidextrous being left-eye dominant and all. Being right handed and looking through my left eye can make some tasks kinda difficult

Fling, I would guess that this is why your teachers taught you to use only your right hand: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bias_ag...-handed_people. Perhaps they were biased or wanted to prevent bias in your direction.
