It seems to me that it's reasonable to compare to my perception of what other people's experiences seem to be and ask whether I'd prefer their lives or mine. I'd put mine in about the 95th-97th percentile, I think.

No, if not for having a daughter id have shotgunned my mouth or a post office full of people a long time ago...

Between RL bullshit and the government trying to rape me from every angle with taxes or scams if i fall behind a few pennies on payment. Id rather get a wiki page dedicated to me going postal rather than me getting F**Ked up ass by government and taxes to support this flood of migrants that the government is giving everything i work for away to some person from other side of world for..

But if you had their lives, your perceptions would be completely different. Experiences can cause dramatic shifts that break all current bonds of comprehension that you currently hold. For me, attempting to compare my life to that of others (except in extreme cases) is essentially mental mind rape, because I find myself attempting to analyze how exactly their world view was established by their experiences. Its probably a superfluous mindset, but then again I am crazy.

No, I see what you're saying. I'm basically just doing the experiment of "if I was basically who I am, would I enjoy that life experience?". I know that's meaningless, since people make choices that are based on what they enjoy (or think they enjoy) and thus choose things that I wouldn't want. The only real thing I can say is that I sure seem happier than almost everyone else.

Parts... some I absolutely love... others I absolutely loathe.

Being 39 and painfully single rots... and have a year until my life becomes the stuff that major blockbuster comedies are written about doesn't sit well with me...

I've also been dreadfully unemployed for far too long... trying to go into a career shift after being very successful in one for over a decade isn't the best of things for one's self esteem.

On the other hand, financially I'm WAAAY well off for the next several years - nobody I know can say that, particularly during this economic era - and ESPECIALLY while unemployed. Couple that with having VERY strong financial responsibility senses - thus I'm ever grateful for that.

Also got a few good family members too, and that always helps. ^_^

Long in short, my life sucks for a lot of reasons - but I've got the best possible stable root structure in place to let me go nowhere but up. ^_^

Well, I've never really liked my childhood at all, I guess I could have had better parents. I'm ok with my current situation in all. It isn't perfect by any means, but I've got a plan on where I'm headed in life and I'm fine with it.

Having lost my job to it being outsourced to China, I hear your loss - but I must remind you that was not a Government decision. That was a decision made by your Boss... nobody from the Government came over and told them to send our jobs to other countries.

Now, I could understand your animosity for the that the Republicans/Bush administration who did put in those tax-breaks for those companies allowing them to send our jobs to the overseas (trickle down theory my ASS... trickle AWAY is more like it...), I could understand that argument... but it still WAS a decision by a person within a corporation to send those jobs overseas... not the Government.

definitely not. I'm set to become mediocre for the rest of my life and take no risks and never fall in love. i haven't done anything noteworthy in my life, I only keep seeing other people my age making great leaps and making things happen for them

Life has been great, since I stopped letting wow eat 10-20 hours out of my week.

I am happy with my life up to this point.

I have made my fair share of mistakes in my life, but lucky in the end they all turn out OK.

Too much gaming ruined my university degree.
Couldn't really find a decent job so took an internet repair job for the time being.
After 3 years it did a mass redundancy (out source most work to India)
    But since then:
Within a month I found a new (current) job that I love and related to my dgree (Accounting)
Got promoted twice in 3 years (now an assistance management accountant)
Work paid study package, now level 2 in ACCA, aiming to become part qualified charted accountant by summer 2013.
Got my mortage for a flat.

So yeah my life isn't too bad at the moment eventhough it was messed up so badly at start.

PS. So don't give up!!!! Life could look grim right now, but hang in there it will get better.

It is rather amazing when that happens! ^_^

I've been finding a lot to do and learn about to fill the time. This week I learning how to prepare and use Pomegranates and Coconuts. (nearly lost my thumb today learning how to peel the extra skin left on the Coconut flesh after you get it off the husk. >_<)

Nup. I work too much, spend too much time studying to get my masters degree, never have enough time to actually be involved with my girlfriend or have time to socialise. My body is breaking down due to disease and I'm now helping support my parents because government cuts have lost them their jobs. I have to wake up and read about how fucked the world is everyday and know I can't really do shit about it.

I'm happy with who I am, but in general I think life is pretty fucking shit.

Both are pretty damned yummy. I'm too lazy to work with pomegranates though, I just occasionally buy the seeds from Trader Joe's.

Since this is the Internet and sarcasm does not translate well, I'm not sure if you're serious or not.

Why would you want to kill other people for your own problems? I'm sick of reading articles about people gunning down others because they can't find a healthy way to cope with their own issues. No need to end others' lives because your life isn't so great at the moment.

I sure as hell hope you don't own a gun.
