It's really not THAT confusing believe it or not. I remember little but once you get the system itself down the game is fairly simple. Except you know, running into CRAZY hard monsters early on.

I run with everything on the lowest and some/most bosses makes the game run at ~30% speed because of special effects.

If your pc is ok-ish use some sort of graphics card program to make sure it's not staying at/going to low speed when dark soul starts.

I think there was an item or two there you could get early if you ran your little ass off though. Err the one down below with all the ghosts. and with a good mace you CAN survive the skeletons in the GY (barely.) I remember doing that on ps3 lol. They DESTROY you if they hit you though.
