Question on Gara'jal and HOP and Divine Shield (Normal)

I've read in a couple of places, but not much discussion afterwards that you HOP a tank in this fight who has voodoo dolls and not lose aggro? Is that correct? Can a pally tank use divine shield on himself to mitigate voodoo dolls without losing aggro as well?

Our guild got a late start so we just got our first few looks at Gara'jal last week. But people were dying to voodoo dolls, tanks should be rotating CDs, I know now. Just wondering if HOP and divine shield are viable for this encounter...

yes to both, though his magic attack obviously goes through hand of protection. Both still very useful though!
