    Should I buy this PC?

    Hey Everyone!

Two simple questions for some of you computer geniuses out there: Is this a good computer that is capable of running WoW/D3 on ultra? Is 780.00 dollars a fair price?

I have a friend of a friend who is selling it.

    Here are the specs!

    AMD FX-6300 3.5Ghz (4.1Ghz TurboBoost) 6 Core CPU
    ASUS M5A97 R2 AM3+ Motherboard
    -USB 3.0
    -CrossfireX Capable
-8 Channel Audio + Optical Out
    -Gigabit LAN
    Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600Mhz Dual Channel DDR3
    Hitachi 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7850 Graphics Card 1GB
Zalman Z9 Plus Case with Temp. and Fan Controller
    Thermaltake TR2 600Watt Powersupply
    LG 24x DVDRW
    Windows 7 Pro 64bit
    Microsoft Office 2010

The only two games I play are WoW / D3, so I am not worried about having an amazing computer for all of the latest and new games -- just a good machine that will run these!

    Thanks for your help,

    Frog.

If the software is 100% legit and not warezed and all parts have manufacturer warranty still on it's about fair price. If the software is pirated or some or most parts are out of warranty it's overpriced.

You can run everything but large scale raids on ultra settings with that. Intel processor would be faster on MMORPGs.

Thank you for the fast reply, vesseblah. All of the parts are legit and come with all proper receipts and manufacturers warranty.

First off, I'm assuming your Sapphire 7850 is 2GB. If not, you'd have to knock off about $20.

Its not the most balanced build. If its not new, then you'd kind of getting ripped off.

The video card is the Sapphire 7850 1GB, and all of the parts are brand new and it was just built. They include full manufacturer's warranty.

Which makes it suspiciously cheap and why I asked about the windows and office licenses.

imo overcharging for used PC even if from a friend, i'd put down 500-600 dollars tops for that also considering it is an AMD rig which tend to age less well.

Okay, thank you all for your help. I have also come accross another gaming rig on my local kijiji website (similar to craigslist) -- this one is used, but it is also priced fairly cheap. Will a computer with these specs run WoW on ultra?

define cheap? also skeptical if that cpu would keep up with wow ultra.

edit: not worth 600 dollars imo nor will it run ultra smooth. (by that i mean full ultra ofc), 450-500 would be a better price for that build.

I would say $600 dollars is what he considers cheap since he said it right above the specs

OP: Id try to talk your friend down to 600ish, Cash in hand might be in your favor.

for a friend deal he's getting ripped off imo (old tech with still very close to new retail price)

Okay, thank you everyone again for your help. I will try and get him down on price. If not, then I'm just going to keep saving and wait for a better deal or build my own.

    Much appreciated.

The original build is almost 300 cheaper :/ if he got it for 600 it would be a pretty decent deal. I agree that the 600 for the 955 setup is not worth it but that was a craiglist build. If everything is legit keys and his friend truly did build it fairly recently 600 would still be a pretty decent deal friend or not. Just cuz you are friends with someone doesnt mean you get a 75% deal lol.

75% would still be on the high side , lets not forget the rig is likely a few years old atleast. (hardware loses value fast en more so second hand)

I have been browsing around and just saw this ASUS at bestbuy for just over 1000.00:

    Processor Type Intel Core i7-3770
    Processor Speed 3.4 GHz
    Processor Cores 4
    RAM 8 GB (1600 MHz DDR3)
Hard Drive Capacity 128 GB SSD; 2 TB
Hard Drive Speed (Revolutions Per Minute) 7200 RPM
    Optical Drive 24X SuperMulti DVD+/-RW
Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7670 2GB
    Pre-loaded Operating System Windows 8

You can check out the actual link by searching "
ASUS Essentio Windows 8 Intel Core i7-3770 8GB RAM 2TB HDD 128GB SSD Desktop Computer" on bestbuy.ca's website.

That would be nice, considering I know it's brand new etc, and I'm not comfortable with building my own PC just yet.
    What do you guys think?

In post #5 he said his friend just built it lol so I dont see the rig being a few years old. Some of the hardware may be a little old. Yurano posted the exact built at almost $900, Yes hardware loses value as 2nd hand but not enough to warrant a 75% discount off of pretty much brand new parts. I do believe the 600 for the 955 on craigslist is asking to much though. Im not sure if Im confusing you or your reading something different lol.

too many similar rigs from different places in here do mess with my mind.
i find the choice of hardware wierd for a recently build rig or is that just me?
@frogcatcher try such a pre-built as a last resort overpaying for lacking parts most of the time.
perhaps you can arrange a deal with a local tech shop to build it for you for a small fee? (or relatives/friends who know how?)

  18. #18
Yeah it is a kind of semi odd but some people dont have the knowledge and make things thinking they will be the best not using legitimate sources or not reading full reviews, benchmarks and just look at zomg bigger number must be better lol

I dont really know why you are complaining about the first computer he linked. Thats a pretty balanced build imo, and 750 would be a good price for that system (all things considering)

Im not saying you could build better or what not. But with the parts it has, id say pretty balanced (could even put in a better gpu)

Altho reading the OP is only playing WoW/D3 an intel build might be better, for a general purpose gaming build its good
