I don't know... Castro and Guevara were not angels...

I live in Canada, we can go to Cuba whenever we want. They don't hate us, I don't think they hate our society. I think they want to be like us.

quick fact: If you go to Cuba, don't give money as a tip to the workers. Give them everyday goods like cloathes, shampoo, soap, toothbrush, razor, etc... That way they don't need to give a 50% or something quote to the government.

I don't support it in the least, especially since the Cold War ended over 20 years ago. Especially with the economy in the shitter, one would think we should take all the trading partners we can get. When he was elected in 2008 I was somewhat hopeful that Obama would realize this very same fact, but alas I guess the political shit is still in the way of common sense.

If we can trade with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, we can trade with Cuba. End of story.

I'm saying people all over the world wanted the US to save them from the USSR. And this goes to include people from modern day Iraq, though not from communism of course.

I kind of agree, but there's a lot of Cuban-Americans who support the embargo and hate Castro. Their votes are pretty important in presidential elections...

i dont see the use of the embargo and i honestly hate comments like "socialism and communism are evil" when alot of its ideals are there to help many people id they the way its implemented is what makes it bad because its impossible for everyone to be equal and will never work perfectly
i live by one motto! "lolwut?"

Could put a lot of restrictions on China though. Donald Trump's "candidacy" was pretty farcical, but that's one thing at least he had right.

Or creating a bigger threat to national security. Our massive trade with China pretty much ensures peace.

And why is this? Is the embargo stopping them from being more communist? Are you worried that the Soviets will try to put missiles on the island again (ignoring the fact that the USSR is now 20 years dead)?

Actually yes, it is. Lift the embargo and they have more income for the government to steal.

The USSR is over. The cold-war is over. That was over two decades ago. If the USA was really concerned about people suffering under communist dictatorships, they'd lift the embargo, as all it does is harming Cuba's citizens. If the USA was really concerned, they'd stopped trading with china. But the USA isn't really concerned. All the USA does with the embargo is trying to push an agenda that is over two decades outdated. The whole communism hatred is not about ideology, it's about power. Politics is always about power. Communism isn't a threat to the USA anymore. Don't you think it's time the USA started living in 2013?

As a Free Market Capitalist and Classical Liberal I would be a hypocrite to support it, and I don't. I also don't support sanctions against countries that we aren't officially at war with. Sanctions are an act of war/aggression and only hurt the people in the end, not their government.

I also don't agree with my government's militarism, and believe we should only fight defensive wars or certain humanitarian missions when asked.

Exactly why I wondered if you were born after the wall. But that doesn't remove the fact that people all over the world do indeed ask for help from the US.

They usually get it too, for better or worse.
