Yes and now he is parrying great sword black knights like it's nothing on his first run of Dark Souls.

They grow up so fast.

When he started the game I was telling him to practice parrying while he still can because he will be fighting that first black knight. And then everyone was yelling at me telling me like "omg he doesn't need to learn parrying he should first learn darks ouls 101 and parrying is like dark souls 301 drekmen". And he was so bad, for 20 minutes, but I kept telling him how to do it, and ruomlig got mad at me because I was still insisting he learn it.
And then he learned it, he parried that first black knight 4 times in a row, and everyone was like

I would agree with him in saying it's an advanced skill. Not so say that he shouldn't learn it, but it takes a good deal of time to do so, as not all enemies are worth it (rapier wielding Balder knights for instance). That and finding out which attack is worth and is easy to parry.
