I just could never use spell slots higher than the spell itself. Although I have always wanted to quicken DBF while using Time Stop twice and set up some sort of shape before the second Time Stop stopped, 6 DBF just sitting there is like an anime nuke going off.

I usually took feat to make sure I have more survivability and utility so I don't fall over like a wet piece of paper.

Yeah. Survivability can be an issue. In the game I'm playing with Gems and Hudson, I plan on making my sorcerer an arcane scholar once she qualifies. They get improved metamagic feats for free, which reduces the level of spell slot required to use the metamagic on.

I was never really interested in doing prestige classes on my Sorcerers either, sure I could easily pick something that didn't halt the Sorcerer growth, but something about being a pure Sorcerer always stuck out to me.

I was never really interested in doing prestige classes on my Sorcerers either, sure I could easily pick something that didn't halt the Sorcerer growth, but something about being a pure Sorcerer always stuck out to me.

Pure sorcerer's are still pretty beastly. It's not really that much different, you just get a few other toys to play with and a couple of things to help your group. Arcane Scholar's give the rest of the party a bonus to saves vs magic, which comes in handy sometimes.
