I do not watch Musical Chairs: the Pornography.

Probably a bit far there. I have not watched it at all nor had any reason to, it really just doesn't interest me.

I haven't watched Game of Thrones. It is on my list, but I ain't gotten around to it yet.

Anyway, if main characters are killed off too much, it starts losing the appeal. You just KNOW that your characters are gonna die, so you don't bother getting emotionally invested in them. And that just makes their eventual death petty and impact-less.

That's just it! See (sigh, here I go again), one of the reasons I love Okami is that while the visuals are fantastic, it's a very well-balanced game. In no department is there an obvious lack of effort put in. Gameplay is simple, fun, and reward, the game looks fantastic, the sounds and music all fit and are great to listen to, the story weaves and dips in really interesting ways, and all the characters charm their way straight to your heart. It's a well-balanced game. Avatar didn't go for that kind of balance--it skipped out on a complex story in favor of great worldbuilding and amazing visuals. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, it's just something that I don't particularly enjoy.

I think the one movie that surprised me a lot the last few years was Red, just something about that movie that I like a lot. The love story isn't overly played out, although it is how the movie starts, but they don't force it down your throat every two minutes. Not many movies would dare kill Morgan Freeman.
I...what? I'm sorry, but that doesn't work really well unless you resort to having them appear in and possibly return from the afterlife. The only other scenario in which I can see that working is if you have more than one main character (as in, they have relatively equal depth/character/screentime). Then one of them can die without the movie ending outright, not unlike TTGL (Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagann).

Well it happens and not all the main characters die, but remember it was written to be that way.

Nah, it's alright with me, but I just couldn't get into the show really. Saw about 5 minutes and just couldn't go further.

I haven't seen The Walking Dead either, I am quite tired of seeing zombies, vampires, and werewolves right now.

Where is our Mummy vs. Medusa movies or skeleton movies. I want other mythological creatures in the spot light.

I'm gonna go ahead and bring up TTGL again. I imagine I was (I imagine like most) completely, 100% blindsided by Kamina's death out of nowhere. I wasn't expecting it at all and it really felt like there was a hole after he died. That was so very well executed. That and Jade Empire are the only two examples I can think of off the top of my head where killing a main character worked (although in Jade Empire, you kinda come back from the afterlife, so that doesn't really count).

I disagree I love when main characters can die. If the writing is good you won't know who will die and who will live. I don't feel anything for the characters when I know they have plot armor and are going to get out of <insert bad situation here> no matter what. I get more attached to a character when I know at any moment their time can come.

I dunno. I think he means having more movies end with the main character martyring.

These days, the only movies that ever really end with the main character's death are horror. And even in horror, the main character dying is rare as sin.

It takes away a lot of the feel and possible impact in a story when you can look at the main character in mortal danger and just think to yourself; "Well, he's the main character, so he'll be fine."

Just something about it. I don't mean they need to die every single movie, but a little bit more. I mean Spike even dies at the end of Cowboy Bebop. When someone goes into a firefight with 30 guys you should expect them to die, or at least come out of it severely wounded, unless there are some sort of super powers coming into the equation. Just seems like there are way to many "Yeah, everything turned out okay." endings. Sure things can turn out well in the end for the other characters.

More like a drama with Zombies, i like that it shows hunger and thirst and trying to survive.
