Using a laptop screen as a PC monitor.

So, my screen decided to go down FLAMIN'! Now, I live in the capital of my country so it would make sense to have a service around... WRONG because well... rent. The service is ~700KM's away and it's the only one. In the meanwhile, I do have a laptop that I could use as a screen. I know it was possible some time ago but it required some third party programs etc.

How easy/wise is to do such a thing nowadays ?

as long as your laptop comes with a slot to plug in the hd/monitor cable you shouldnt need any 3rd party software besides basic nvidia/ati driver panel.
