Why is Youtube being super slow?

Usually your IP address is static, so you can't change it. If your ISP has given you a dynamic IP address then you can turn your router off for a while, then turn it back on, to get a different public IP adress.

How would one go about checking/changing this?

Also, dunno if relevant, but UVerse gives us their own routers, so perhaps I could tweak the IP address or something since I have full admin access to it?

Windows 7:
Run => cmd => type ipconfig /flushdns => hit enter.

Windows 8:
Type cmd at Metro Menu => hit enter => type ipconfig /flushdns = >hit enter.

Try it out by watching a YouTube video; preferably the ones you had trouble watching/buffering.

for one, i have experienced alot of adds / introadds on allmost every clip - its very annoying.

I would recommend contacting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and speak with either a Tier 2 or Tier 3 Specialist; have your tracert handy in case you need to provide it.

It's on Youtube's side as it has been slow for 2-3 weeks now. It's fast at times and slow on other times. It's not my internet as everything else works fine, just like almost everybody else who has this issue.

I've been having the same problem off and on for over a week now, likely closer to two. No issues running anything else. WoW, Pandora, regular browsing of websites and webcomics, etc. Nothing else has given me any issue except YouTube. I'll try to load up just a simple music video to play for my son to dance along with and it will load partway then just bog down and die. Never had any issue before and its only YouTube. Doesn't even matter whether I'm connected through ethernet or wifi. I think I even tried a couple of times at my college and had the same issue.

So, yeah, I'm glad to see that someone other than me has had the issue, even without any clue what is causing it.

We've confirmed it's obviously not a poor-bandwidth issue. It's either truly Youtube's side (unlikely as others are having no problems) or our ISP's side, more namely: AT&T's UVerse (more likely).
