how about a "check box" on your driver licence/visa about being a donor

We all know donors are needed around the world.
me myself would like to be one,but to be honest to lazy to "go threw the hoops" of getting to be one (never been offered the option to become one either)

Would it be an idea to be asked if you wanted to be one when you cross some milestones in your life?

Get your drivers license.(sign here if you want to be a donor (would also show on your license that you are one)
    and so on.

That's actually how it works, at least in my state. You check the box and they print DONOR on your license.

So at any milestone ask if you want to be a donor? Don't like the idea personally.
If someone wants to be a donor they should just find out how and then go for it and get on a donors list.

I registered to be a donor online, it took me a few minutes and I got a card through the post a few weeks later.

This is how it works in every state I've got a drivers license in the US.

That's the way it works in most states in the US at least.

In the Netherlands you´ll get a letter at your 18th birthday, asking whether you want to be a donor or not and if not, why. It doesn't show on your driver's license though.

Where I live, it works on the other way: everybody is a donor by standard, if you do not want to donate, you have to register a "not donor" sign in your ID document.

oh should have mentioned.im from Norway.

question. if you have "donor" on your licence, can your family "stop" it?

Feks. you die. have a donor card.at the hospital your mom "or the one you listed as a emergency"says NO
    then waht?

    question 2
can you be a donor and chose some of your body parts to be "of limit" ?

I dunno about Norway, but in Denmark everything is registered electronically (the plastic donor card is obselete), and the family has to have time to say their goodbyes, if you are registered as a donor, the family can't change it. If you register as "dont care" it's up to your family to decide what is to be done with your organs.

As for your second question you can chose bodyparts, though whats the point really?

As for OP I don't see why not. In Denmark we have to send out brochures frequently, though I don't see why we don't extend it, so it is included in the mandatory doctors appointment you have to get here if you want a drivers license and having the doctor actively ask you might make you think longer about it over the brochure.

Why would anyone *not* want to be an organ donor? I don't understand the selfishness that would go into that.

Personally I think it should be an "opt out" program, not an "opt in" program.

In Brazil, I believe the family can stop it.

I think so, but I'm not sure.

Why would anyone *not* want to be an organ donor?
Some religions believe it is a sin. That's the only reason I'm aware of.

When I resurrect, I want to have all of my organs.

I don't want to be an organ donor. I'm that greedy. I don't want to have my body cut up and defiled after I'm dead.

Please don't go into blah blah, saves lives, helps people. I know it's helpful, I'm just greedy. Maybe one day I'll change. I don't think so but it's possible, I've changed my stances on stuff before.

As for the religion thing, I think Islam is against it. I'm like 99% sure I heard something like that from my grandparents. It falls into the same category of "don't get tattoos or marks on your body."

What does greed have to do with it? It's not like you get to keep your body after you die.

No forcing happening at all. If they don't want to donate, they can opt out.

Idk. I'll be dead, just leave me alone. It's already embarrassing enough that I died.
