I have some guesses.
He either
1. Wiped on a boss to many times
2. Has guild drama
3. Ran out of buff food and the AH is to far to talk.

Could be dozens of things, he could see WoW as one of the facets of his laziness and with his new health kick, thinks stopping raiding/WoW could aid him in that.
He maybe is sick of the content, sick of the other raiders or .. meh, whatever.
