I have spent so many years playing this game, and I while disagree with a lot of PvE design decisions they've made over the past couple of years, I've always had a spot for PvP in my heart.
One of the biggest pieces of news for me was when you could gain experience in Battlegrounds, because I actually thoroughly enjoy PvP leveling.
PvP Leveling Today
This is near damn impossible. There are new BoA Healers who have no idea what they're doing and can be focused down by a few or even a couple of people. Then you have the experienced players playing a healer in lowbie BGs with BoA. These people are damn near impossible to kill.
I jumped on the bandwagon myself to try it out in Mop with a R Druid, a D Priest and a MW Monk when I was playing. I seriously could have an entire group of people on me and the only way I was able to die was within a Stun+Interrupt Lock. Other than that, I wasn't going down.
Whatever, a very small fraction of players care about lowbie BGs and I doubt Blizzard is going to give them any attention any time soon, so let's move on. Since the common practice today is that if something you enjoy doing is broken, forget about it and move on, I moved onto 90 PvP.
Maximum Level PvP Today
Well, while healers aren't as big of a hassle since there's a million CC effects, they're still rather insane. Again, in the hands of an experienced player, they're such a pain in the ass to kill without the entire group focusing them down.
I'm not talking about a 2500+ rated player, I'm talking about a player who just knows his abilities (usually there's only a few they need to use). Again, when I was playing I had a couple of 90 healers and death was pretty rare for me. I could survive through a lot of CC while DPS beside me mowed others down.
Arenas
I don't have a lot of experience in MoP with Arenas and I will never do 2s again if this is how Blizzard intends it to be.
Basically, this is how a typical match goes:
- A lot of pillar/wall humping
- Healers never OOM
- 20+ minute matches until a healer messes up or the other team gets bored
Then you have some class comps such as healers+DKs that are just ridiculous right now. Or you have some classes that have passives that keep them from being killed when you finally get one (if you're lucky enough to get one) to low life.
Whatever, again, if something you enjoy is broken, move on. That's what everyone tells me.. instead of rather hoping there will be a fix or asking them to fix it, "lol who cares, it's not max level stuff" "lol who cares, it's not top level pvp".
Now, let's talk about the horrendous patch for PvP that is 5.3. In my opinion, this will spell doom for PvP.
5.3 PvP Changes
- Healers are getting a buff from PvP Power with a very small fraction nerf to Battle Fatigue. WHAT THE.... WHY?! Why are they getting a buff from anything? Does the development team even play this game anymore?!
- Players will now have a base of resilience of 65% and all PvP Resilience has been removed from Gear. WHAT?! WHAT THE ACTUAL.. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? The two damn main points of PvP gear was for the Resilience so you could live longer and for the PvP power which helped balance out the substantial loss you received in SP/Str/AP/Etc.
Now that Resilience will be GIVEN AWAY, WHY THE HELL WOULD ANYONE GET THE PVP GEAR?! Why would anyone gear up PvP power for a trade off of their main important stat? On my mage, my spell power drops a bunch when I equip PvP gear but it's ok because.. Resilience. Sincerely, WHAT WILL BE THE POINT OF PVP GEAR IN 5.3?!
It's bad enough that for PvP leveling you have a bunch of dicks starting out at level 10 with 1300+ life who just enjoy killing people without BoAs but why is PvP being so neglected? Are they intentionally making shit decisions?
