Fix my Mage Friend's DPS!

I'm at my wit's end; I lead a 1/13H casual raid group and our DPS is fine for the most part, but we're always hurting for raiders this late. I've been bringing a friend of mine who's a little undergeared into ToT for our progression, and while we've been killing bosses, I'm scared to try new heroics from fear the DPS won't be there. I encouraged him to play Frost, knowing that Fire is only really viable at ~515 or so (again, just pulling from threads here), and his DPS is still pretty low.

I know...just about nothing about Mages, but it's hard to see how 10 ilevels that separate him from some of my other DPS can make such a ridiculous difference on some fights (H Jin'Rokh, for example). I'll get off his case if it's literally just a gear issue. I'm posting this because his account isn't letting him create threads, but he'll be reading this too! We both thank you in advance. ^_^

Just quickly looking over these parses, noticing a somewhat low Invocation uptime. Not sure why he has Frost Bomb on ever fight. No Ice lance Glyph? Should choose either Int or Haste for gemming not a mix of them. Thats just after a quick glance at the logs.

He should be using nether tempest or living bomb since they are easier to use/maintain. The fastest/largest gain in dps will come from him getting Wushoolay's and Breath of the Hydra. Make sure he is using alter time when he has the most procs+cds up. Other than that, his itemization is all over the place with only 6 pieces having haste as a native stat.

there is a bug with invocation which sometimes causes Evocate to not give the buff.

my suggestion is to choose incanter's ward, but never activate the skill unless you got a big burst coming in. it's 6% passive and 15% right after a burst. as shown in earlier threads, Invocation requires you to have less than 4 seconds downtime when you have the buff up.
