    Helping picking a graphics card?

Hello! I need help picking out a graphics card.

My boyfriend's been wanting a new one, but he knows next to nothing about computers. I know a little bit more, but not to the extent I can direct him to the exact thing he'd want.

The way his desk is set up is that he switches his screen to be both a monitor for his computer and a screen for his xbox. The only computer games he plays are WoW and Diablo 3, but on his xbox he plays Skyrim, Halo 3 (or 4, whichever one that's the latest), et c. The problem is that Skyrim and the other games looks very shitty, when I know they're not supposed to. He even has WoW graphics down low, because his current card can't handle any higher.

He expressed that he liked my card (ATI Radeon 5770), which can handle GW2, Planetside 2, et c without trouble. However, I know mine's a bit outdated, so I began to look around. I spotted the ATI Radion 6970 on Newegg, which is about $160.

I didn't want to tell him to pursue it yet though in case I had screwed up and pointed him to a computer fan or something. Could I get some opinions on if this card is worth spending the $160 or should I keep looking for something better?

Edit: "Helping picking"? Really? I meant "Help Picking", sorry.

Yeah, that card will be fine for wow, but for 9 bucks more, look at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150609

It's a really nice card for what it cost. It's 199, but with rebate card it's 30 bucks off. But how old is his computer? What kind of CPU is he using?

Oh, that one looks nice! I'll definitely look into that one more.

As for his computer, I don't think it's any older that 2 years. He bought a pre-assembled one, bless him. I tried to get him to build a custom, because I don't know if they bolt the card down or something so he couldn't buy a new one.

please read those articles, but also, they dont represent raids too much since wow is more cpu based and they used beastly cpus for those tests, but they show gpu scaling in a nut shell
