Shadow: Boss Buff and Dots

Quick question, haven't had the chance to test this personally.

For buffs gained in Jinrok (standing in water), Jikun (getting nutrients), etc., I forget if the buff gained appears as a buff or a debuff. I know that Primoridus shows as a debuff, but since you do not attack him until you are fully morphed, you don't have to worry about reapplying dots. But for the other fights, does it just count directly into the dots, or is it like any other proc buffs where you have to refresh it during the proc?

For Jinrok, I usually reapply my dots after I stand in the water, unless my UVoL trink dots are still rolling; reapply dots anyways for Jikun since its a 100% dmg buff...not sure if this is the correct method or not.

Also IIRC, for dmg buffs gained on bosses like Horridon, the buff is calculated on the spot?

If it's an effect on you (buff or debuff) you'll have to reapply your dots to gain the effect on them.
If it's an effect on the boss, you don't have to.

It changes per boss really, you're best off to check individually.

Primordious behaves as boss buffs (even though its technically player buffs) due to the nature of it, its not just "this much more damage" but rather you do more damage to this specific target.

Was checking for our feral druid on primo, and his bleeds were losing the buff immediately after losing the buff on himself, no refresh required, and the other way as well, if he had bleeds up when gaining the buff they'd immediately be ticking harder.

Ji'kun is more like a self buff however. Mastery ticks auto adjust, even if the main spell was not applied with the buff the extra ticks will behave as if they were (or weren't if they tick after the buff falls)

Jin'rokh is the same setup as Ji-kun.

The buff however does not show up on logs for some reason.

A dot applied while in the water will tick for the full power, if you leave while it's up the mastery ticks will be back to normal power but the dot itself will continue at full until it is refreshed outside.

Went and checked Horridon as well, it does indeed auto update without the need for a refresh.

So basically, as Halda said, if it's an aura on the boss, your dots will be updated automatically. If it's an aura on you, you need to refresh your dots. Mastery ticks are calculated dynamically either way. Primordius is a rare exception to that rule.
