Updated OP with proper MSI Twin Frozr 280X review since the TPU one was a broken sample.

Got ahold of the Asus unlocked BIOS but I'm debating on whether or not to try it atm. I'm going to wait and see how MSI Afterburners update turns out then go from there most likely. Also if I go about 1500+ on the memory I get some issues but I believe it's due to voltage and not heat as my card hasn't gone above 80C with my fan profile Regardless the card runs my games flawlessly and no hiccups so far, I'm loving the 290x!

I would just leave it be until you get some better cooling since I'm mostly worried about VRAMS.
If it's running flawless then just leave it be.

Actually in game it does but not to much, it's odd that it does considering temps are fine for me even though the noise gets high but I don't mind. right now I'm at 1100/1500 and after say a game of BF3 I noticed it throttled to ~1050ish core. Also my BF4 coupon isn't redeeming, says invalid UID? Anyone have issues with this as well? I hope it's solved by Tuesday or else I'm going to just buy BF4.

Yeah I've been trying it there, I sent in a support ticket as well, I hope it works on Monday but we'll see.

Damn BF4 code still doesn't work Hope they fix it soon as I want to pre-load the game, I figure if it doesn't work by 6pm my time come Monday I'm just going to buy BF4 as my buddy will buy my BF4 coupon off me.

my temps are now around 90 degrees on full load. Went down from 95. And what did i do ? changing from gpuz monitor to the control center overdrive one

It hardly throttles. Havent seen it yet. And on Bl2. which is more or less the only game ive played this far runs on around 200 fps. 1080p everything on max.

Also found out the problem with the black screen when minimizing and quiting a game was also due to gpu-z -.-

Will crunch out some numbers tomorrow on bf3

This is probably a noob question, but what exactly is different about the R9 280x compared to the 7970? I see around a lot that the 7970 and the 280x uses the same chip, from what I can see eye view the cooler is different, but is performance better at all? Again sorry if its a noob question, just getting confused when people are saying they use the same chip.

Yep same exact chip but clocked a little higher. If you are in the market for an upgrade id keep an eye out on deals for a 7970 and overclock it. Last week i saw and xfx 7970 for 240 after rebate, cheapest 280x is 300.

Yeah GPU-Z and AB have been causing issues for many, but my AB hasn't for me yet. Glad to see everything is going good on your end now! I'm really loving this card, all my games have been running silky smooth at 1440p.

It's been stated numerous times not to post videos like that, you failed to listen. I don't see the humour in it as it is, call me bias because I have a 290x but mine doesn't get stupid loud and the noise isn't noticeable with my headphones or surround sound.
