Linux USB boot results in artifacts

    Hey guys!

So... I'm trying to boot up Ubuntu 12.04 with my USB-drive but when it boots I only see a bunch of graphical artifacts followed by an empty screen with a blinking line in the top left corner of the screen.

    What I've tried is:

Using another Linux-distribution - No difference
Trying the USB in an old computer - Success

So what could be wrong here?

    Som relevant specs:

    CPU: i7 2700K
    Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77
    HDD: Samsung HD103SJ 1TB
    SSD: Intel 520 180GB
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    GPU: GTX 780

    these

Asus does not validate their boards against linux anymore, im actually in the process of picking out a different board because of this, linux running on any Asus board newer than X79 is hit or miss, mostly miss

for the 780, it might be too new for 12.04, try using the nomodeset flag if you can get to boot options

How do I do that? I don't get so much time to do anything really...

I guess I'm screwed, damn you Asus!
