getting a couple extra parts need advice

So firstly I'm doing all of my ordering through a website www.pccasegear.com so please don't say something like get this *newegg link* because I don't live in the states haha limited by basically this store since I reside in AU

Anyway I'm purchasing a couple extra parts for my PC

Firstly getting a 4TB Green drive for space, I just remember seeing something somewhere about them needing special requirements unlike 3TB and below which are basically just format and go.

Secondly, getting a sound system to replace my shitty one as my current one is a 2.1 system and also makes annoying sounds when near my phone and makes awful sound over Skype when my phone is close and I am receiving a message or email

And lastly, I was thinking about getting a sound card to get with it to I suppose make it better? Not sure only looking at a Cheap one, so if you could advise me if they were useful / worth it just for general purpose e.g game sounds etc and music ...

So those are the 3 parts I was going to get, thanks in advance for any help

Xonar DG/X is fine. Remember DG is PCI and DGX is PCI-E, just make sure you get one that will fit in your case/motherboard.

As for 4TB HDD, you need to initialize the drive.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2581408

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management

    To initialize new disks
In Disk Management, right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk.
In the Initialize Disk dialog box, select the disk(s) to initialize. You can select whether to use the master boot record (MBR) or GUID partition table (GPT) partition style.

    You want GPT.

By the way 2.1/2.1 doesn't make speakers bad nor does 7.1 make them good. Obviously if you need/want surround you'll need 5.1/7.1

I don't know what the shipping cost is but this is cheaper for your speakers:

I believe Logitech X-540 would be better but they can be hard to find and probably a little more expensive:

Also mentioned in the Z506 review

I could only find them here, maybe you know of a place:

If you don't absolutely need Surround maybe get these instead, if you can afford it, Logitech Z623 (2.1):

Yup, you want GPT partitioning for 4TB disks, and having one as a boot disk isn't a simple task if you got a BIOS mobo instead of an UEFI mobo. As a data disk there are no issues.

I'd rather not comment on computer cans since it might result in a flame war.

Nah please do so, speaking on behalf of OP

There are certainly better non-gaming brand/setups to be found.

Thanks guys! Yeah the 4Tb is just going to be for data storage, with the sound card what are the main benefits does it just make the sound crisper and clearer or what exactly ?

There is a built-in amp on the DGX. Better soundstage though some Z87 boards have comparable quality. The Sound card also has better inline (mic) quality, less static etc. Less chance of interference as well to name a few things.
