    Question Alts - why?

Well, that's about it. Why do you have alts?

I just wondering with the reasons, not saying alts are good or bad or whatever. Simple Why.

  2. #2
Because I enjoy playing more than 1 class.

  3. #3
Because just the one class with just the one flavour and just the one playstyle, with just the one toolkit and just the one role...

Gets incredibly, incredibly, terrifyingly stupendously boring.

I loved raiding back in the days of BC and even WOTLK.
I loved raiding a lot. Then they introduced shared lockouts.
So the raiding capacity of my toon was halfed from one day to the other. To continue beeing able to raid a lot i had to roll a second character. I dont call him alt, as he is the same class as my main.

    02. Professions - money making
    03. ....cause it's fun!

Mostly just for professions. I'm close to the polar opposite of an altoholic - I get enjoyment out of progressing a single character instead of spreading my time over multiple, and see no fun in the levelling grind or gearing of alts.

I like to play more than one class and playing all the classes lets me know their abilities and how I can work with them in PvE, or counter them in PvP. So I have fun playing alts, and learn about them at the same time. Besides Warlock [Soon™] I have everything at 90, and since I research and experiment with the class when I play them I'm mostly up to date to a decent standard (easily enough to raid Heroics and PvP on). If I'm not, I find out what I need to know.

Also being a Role Leader, in my guild at least, it helps knowing other classes and how I can help them if needed and use their utility properly - not a lot of people can do that in my experience.

tl;dr - Playing and learning is fun.

This, I'd rather clear heroic and take breaks. Never understood anyone playing alts unless its for pvp or to further the main raid. WoW not so fun that i want to clear the raid 60 times instead of 30.

Rather play different game before the raid cycle begins again.

lots of players have extremely pathetic mains. I wouldn't be able to stand it.

    I actually like leveling.
Also mostly because I get bored when I only play 1 class.

I had them to raise profs and land me achievements. Dynamic Duo, Terrific Trio, quintessential quintet, Master of All, and double agent. Once I had every alt achievement, I sold everything, mailed the G to my main, and deleted them. Alts were a means to an end. Nothing more. If Blizz ever unlocks race/class combos, I will have them all restored and race change them to Gnomes.

Because playing one class over and over and over gets a little boring at times.

Playing too many classes isn't good for me, either. I have one main and one alt, and between the two characters I have plenty to do.

Because if I played one Character I would have probably quit the game around WotLK or earlier. Since TBC when I started I've always had at least two Characters. Cataclysm it expanded to four. Now I have lots.

Fun for PVP, Raiding, trying out new roles/faction etc. Atm doing Challenge Modes with some of them and having fun. Will probably drop a few in WoD.
    Dristereau - Axxolentus - Infernus - Sequentia - Nulo - Desterrar

The only reason why I have more than one char is that I can farm certain mounts/pets/achievements (more than once per week).
Other than that, I can't stand spreading progress on different chars. I like to have one char with 1 spec and concentrate on it - fully.

I have 8 level 90s. I started my first couple alts for the professions. But as I leveled them, I began to really like playing them. Leveled a few more just because I got bored. Now I raid on several characters. One week's lockout recently I tanked 3 bosses on my druid, dps'd 3 bosses on my mage, and then healed 2 bosses on my pally. I bring whichever toon is needed for the raid - they are all well-geared. Don't really have a "main" anymore.

I really do like playing each and every one of them.
