I feel so weak & lost after 2.0

My monk and witch doctor feel so much weaker after the patch. I'm not sure why really.

My monk I feel like he attacks slower now.

Lifesteal was obviously nerfed, but maybe I'm not in the correct difficulty mode. I was able to do mp6 just fine on inferno. Now I can barely do torment without it taking ages to kill anything.

This is my monk, heres is my witch doctor.

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/V...3/hero/4240700

My witch doctor I was able to do mp2 without many issues.

I honestly am lost. I just need a bit of advice on if I'm perhaps on the wrong difficulty or maybe I'm not gearing right. Maybe my build is wrong.

I like the playstyle of my monk build, I honestly loved a full dot build for WD but it never felt strong.

    How are wizards now?

And as a last note, my main I FULLY intend to be a crusader upon RoS release. I mained a paladin in d2, intend to follow through with that.

There is so much to talk about - but i'll try to keep it short: don't go torment. Simply don't do that.

What you did before 2.0: you had huge dps and a lot of LS - your EHP were much higher than your actual hp pool due to istant refills with aoe damage. you could actually reseist a lot through damage.

What you are encountering now: LS nerfed to the ground, gear with near zero defensive stats, mobs with a lot of health - your way to resist blows is basically broken, you don't kill things before they kill you anymore.

What to do: go farm master or even expert if you have troubles. Drops aren't affected by difficulty (in quality, higher difficulties will drop slightly higher quantity of legendaries) so you're not gimping your chances to get good gear. As for builds, i didn't tinker much with the WD so i won't suggest you a build.

As for the monk, i had a lot of fun with this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculato...djk!XaU!ccYZaa - keep in mind that this is a very specific build (all cold damage) but you can tinket with it if it feels bad or not working.

    Hope it helps.

EDIT: wizards are not in a bad place - no more perma archon but elemental builds are pretty good; imfo frost is the best due to damage + cc, lighting has been nerfed a little and fire does good damage but no cc at all if you go for "pure" builds (i think it will be really good for co-op play)

    Interesting, ok.

I might try going wizard then if they can take advantage of 'full' elemental builds now.

Its unfortunate lightning isn't doing well. But I'll give cold a try.

I felt master was a little on the easy side for my wife and I (me>Monk her>demon hunter) so we bumped it up to torment 2 and that was pretty intense. We hit our first elite pack and we didn't wipe, so it seemed to work out well but we only played for a few minutes. Even got my first "2.0 LEGENDARY" from that pack.

    Couple of things:
    1. The pace feels slower. Because they moved movement speed to a stat, I feel like I'm in slow motion. Also attack speed feels like it was also nerfed to the ground
    2. The game looks amazing. I don't know if it was the addition of reflections to the engine or if they overhauled the graphics but the game looks great
    3. Right, life on hit or life steal is non existent, but healing abilities and the potion cooldowns and HP return are buffed it seems.

    Just a few of my initial thoughts from my first hour in 2.0;

So far my survivability feels as if it has been buffed to god-like levels, where as my dps has me hitting like a wet noodle. Mobs that took me seconds to clear now take minutes and abilities that used to one-shot me now barely make a dent. I'll probably have to do some major retuning.

I don't know what they did with the graphics but they look so much better now.

The way they reworked the map is a pain in the ass.

A lot of the achievements have been moved around. I'll have to go back and get several achievements that I've already completed. It's not a big deal at all, but it was a little strange getting an achievement for killing Diablo for Nth time.

*I forgot to mention that the server has been buggy as hell. Rubberbanding constantly.

Agreed. I hate trying to bring up the map in a dungeon and having to hit the button up top to "zoom" it in to the dungeon and then hitting M doesn't close it from there it brings it back to the act map again, it's quite annoying.

I noticed that. If I stuck to the same build and playstyle, it is a huge frustration. It's not the same game anymore. I enjoyed all the classes I've played (except demon hunter, maybe I'll try one now), but I think I will just reroll each class - good excuse to get the "2 characters each class" achievement.

I agree. It feels like a different game now (maybe for the better, who knows really). I'll probably try different builds now to see where I can maximize potential

I played my DH for about 20 mins last night. A couple of things that I felt instantly was that my damage was lowered and it showed (154k pre patch to 145k post patch.)

Did like the change they made to sentry. They no longer are placed where your standing. My current build definitely is going to be changing.

Also, I like the fact the they got rid of the valor stacks which allows for more skills changing and testing without losing stacks. Tonight I need to setup my Wizard, monk and Barb up.

I feel like the biggest wet noodle on my barb now. I might finally have to give up my fun build. But paragon grinding doesn't seem as painful now though.

Tab doesn't work? It brings up the local map for me.

Played the first coop game of the patch. We dropped like 3 legs each, and i dropped the set 1hand xbow (which is really awesome).

Started with 170k dps, 200k tough and it was pretty hard to go trhough toment 2, had to stay super-aware. Changing some pieces brought dps to 131k but tough up to 680k and it really is worth it.

And another thing: teamplay is very very rewarding. We built our team with different abilites/cc/party cooldowns and it turned out really well. Fortunately the build i thought to use has proven to be pretty good (not the one i had in mind, i changed it a bit due to a legendary belt boosting lighting damage and screaming monk everywhere).

TOughness sounds like another word for Effective Health. It's much more useful to me than "Life" was in the old comparison tooltip - since I play hardcore, I prioritize this number above anything else.

    Not quoting because long post.

Agree on the less random RNG deaths, which is awesome. If i die because i'm dumb, it's fine but not because of an out-of-screen charge.

Don't look at old dofficulties, with my char i can play torment 2, and i had more or less your stats. Just try and in case lower the difficulty until you find a cool pace.

Toughness is just a baseline indicator of EHP (= total damage you can take before dying). Maybe it's not super precise, but it's a good indicator of how resistant to damage is your character. A good toughness can bring you up difficulties way faster than dps, because you may be slow, but not dying is better.

My oh my am I having fun on my Wizard.

L41 now and breezing through Hard. Perhaps I should bump it up to whatever is next, but that might be a stretch to level in. Not really running a well considered build right now, just rushing through content with Disintegrate basically. Will definitely go for a dedicated Frost build after that.

Same here, then I just swapped keybinds around to have M bring up the act map.

Definitely agree on the less random RNG deaths (Oh those are such a pain.) Some of the new affixes are really really avoidable like orbitor and frozen pulse and really don't feel like they do much, if any damage at all. Although Thunderstorm is cool.

Anyone with any idea on what's the best way to level up from 1 in 2.0? I need to replace my dead DH but I'm not sure which difficulty is optimal, mob level seems to go up too much on higher difficulties.

  19. #19
Im playing on Torment 3 with my WD that has 155k damage and 500k toughness and 3300 healing.

My lifesteal actually feels really fine and the old stand in melee with cloud of bats still feels potent as ever. Only in act 1 so I may find the difficulty ramps up in later acts though.

Tried max level torment and was instantly 2 shot by the 1st act 1 zombie I encountered

I level at hard/expert at max because higher levels are just too slow for my tastes. Hellfire/ruby on head help also a lot.
