Just logged into D3 for the first time in ages and WHOAH

So I haven't played for months due to other things occupying my time (including but not limited to WoW :P) and I haven't been keeping up on the RoS changes. Heard about Loot 2.0 and some other stuff ages ago, that was about it. I logged in today out of curiosity after seeing some kind of pre-RoS download going on, and HOLY SHIT. There's no more Normal/Nightmare/Hell/Inferno! :O

I'm sure you guys will laugh at me because you've all known about it for months but... that is a MASSIVE change. That's been like that since D1.

I think it's a great idea, even back in D2 it drove me mad having to run through Normal and Nightmare and see the story over and over again every time I wanted a new alt. It was a big turnoff for me, and one of the reasons I only managed to start two alts in D3. Now I just unlock the story once and then... I guess I level wherever I want because the difficulty will just adjust.

I take it the new "difficulty levels" replace monster power multipliers? They only apply at 60 though yeah? Is there a way to beef up the monsters at lower levels (I remember back in D2 I always played on players 8 until late NM/early Hell to make it more fun)? Will the leveling speed be the same? Like, if I start a new character what level will I be by the time I finish the story mode now? How much more would I need to play to get to 60?

The difficulty applies to all level. You can start a level 1 at Master (I *think* Torment has to be unlocked by having one character at 60 - someone correct me if that's not the case) or Normal. Higher difficulty monsters do more damage and have more health. Monsters however level with you - so you can't one shot things on Normal just because you are 60 (you might with good gear). On the other hand, you don't need to be level X to do Act Y.

Higher difficulties give bonuses to experience and ... I want to say gold find. So on higher difficulties, you gain more level killing the same amount of mobs. Possibly be 60 playing through it once? I dunno.

That's my basic understanding to answer your question.

Gonna steal this thread a bit, since i am back to d3 after quite some time also, dont rly wanan start new one for no reason.. Have a question about the difficulties now, how are they compared to Mlvl1-10 before.
If i was able to farm mp8 without problems, what difficulty level will that be now? Also, do they still keep the max lvl difficulty has achance of dropping extra items or is that changed? Basicaly do you still get bonus MF and item drops when you go higher difficulties?

There are six torment levels I think. So, I'm guessing MP8 would be around torment 5.

Torment1 feelt way to easy for me, so Id guess thats MP4-5.

Last time I checked Torment VI was around 10+ times of MP10 (normale mobs have the HP of MP10 Elite while Elite are around 1 billion HP and bosses have around 2 billion hp). I'm seeing some streamers farming T6 cursed chest, but no one does any elite or bosses. With BIS gear it might be possible to kill them but it is not possible in any efficient time.

Torment 1 and 2 seem pretty doable, especially in party. Going up to me seems just...not worth it. Well, with good gear you can do anything but still, i prefer a faster pace and xp/gold bonuses are nice but not mandatory.

Yeah, I also stick with T1 at the moment. High killspeed and everything :>

There is a bug right now where you can invite level 1's to torment. So get your friends together and level your alts. Best way is to farm act 1 chests. You'll hit 60 in less than 30min.

    I don't know if it's a bug.

If you have a lvl 60 char, you can roll a lvl1 and start directly at Torment - difficulties just unlock when meeting prerequisites (Kill Diablo for master, lvl 60 for Torment) but then it's totally free to choose.

EDIT: i mean it's not like old Inferno that requires you to be 60 to just join.

Yeah, the difficulty unlocks are account-wide, not character-wide, so as long as you have one character that's level 60 you can do Torment on any of them.

Well, all I know is my wizard was running MP3 with relative ease, and now I'm running torment III with relative ease.

So... hmm. What the hell should I spend my Paragon points on? On my Demon Hunter that is.

I take it Nephalem Valor is gone? And this Nephalem Glory thing seems to be a completely random drop short term buff? So I can swap talents whenever I want now...

I see all mats and potions have been consolidated. And there's a bunch of new mob affixes. And Loot 2.0 is amazing, no more huge piles of garbage.

Yes, stacks are gone, very nice to be able to switch builds between regular farming/events/bosses.

As per paragon points, i'm going with some baseline things like all dex, crit damage (1hand xbow), splash damage and all resist. Basically, if it's not direct damage i cover holes in defense.

You can extent the duration by picking up health globes. It stacks 3 times, but I haven't been lucky enough to get more than 2 stacks so far.

I got three earlier, no idea how. Is it a totally random world drop?

They still could easily have and IMO should have kept the names Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno. Since there are five modes, I would have named the middle difficulty Torment, because it seems more severe than Nightmare but not as necessarily severe as Hell.
