Inflation ony really comes into play when the cost of service rises. aka: that would only be true if the sum total of the cost(s) of hosting, maintaining and managing servers has risen. has it? go back to school maybe.

The cost has probably risen. Wages are higher today than they were ten years ago, rent costs are higher, electricity bills are higher, ISP costs are higher.

It doesn't matter anyway: the simple fact is that a dollar today is worth less than a dollar ten years ago, so the subscription cost has gone down in terms of what else you could spend that money on. Not by very much, of course.

December 20th is a "no later than" date for release. The website still says in Fall of 2014. Still predicting September-October here.

Yes but knowing what a storm saying "December" will be to players they are still prepared to say it MAY be that late. If they are saying that - knowing how many will complain (and knowing that some WILL quit knowing its that late - totally ruining their 200k increase in subs) - they must think its a good chance of being that late. If it is - they will suffer in subs I think thats clear.

You guys realize that the December date is before they go on hiatus for the holidays. All that they're saying is that they plan on getting it out before then, not that that is the release date.

Yes - but you don't announce the possibility of a storm - unless you think its likely to happen. Its rather bad marketting. It is a little like saying "Buy our wonderful game... we think its probably going to be rather good - but it may suck badly". You would never ADMIT to the latter. You also wouldn't admit to it maybe being really late unless you thought it likely was (knowing how people will react).

If they would release WoD in December, it would mean the downfall of World of Warcraft. I'm not much of a doomsayer, and never have been. Yet, if they release it in December, too many people will have gone over to Wildstar, ESO, Destiny, etc. Mists is done, they should've released it within 2 months of now.

I sincerely hope for the sake of WoW that they release it sooner.

It wont "kill" wow - whenever they release it. They WILL lose subs though if they release it in December. Sure some may go to other games - but those never usually last long as most other games just dont do well tbh. There are likely to be many that leave however - even if they DONT find another game to suit them.

Yes, but if you wanted another boost to 90 and went with the "buy another game".... you would have to buy:

Battlechest
MOP
WoD
Character Transfer (to your other account - unless you wanted to pay a monthly sub for the new character)

the 60 boost is still rather cheaper than buying a new account to get it and then paying for a transfer.

Well...... the more people pre-purchase - the more developers they will get involved on their little "sideline" called WoD. More people pre-purchase and the release date gets put forward :P

I'm laughing at everyone who can't read and expect the expansion to actually be released in late december.

That fact that they are preparing us for the possibility means that they think it could well be that late. They are of course hoping it will be earlier - but they have been hoping since BC to release expansions yearly.... and then get them out faster... and then MOP wont last as long as others.... and then ICC was too long - we won't do that again etc etc etc etc.

"as early into fall as possible" to me, knowing how Blizzard is means early December. They're never early, it's always a delay. They have that reputation going for them. See D3 and "soon".

The really scary thing is that they took a big chunk of the Titan staff to work on WoW. It's taking them that long with all these guys working on it. It's pretty clear at this point that simple laziness has set in at Blizzard. Apparently they don't fire anyone for slacking off, so people working there just kind of take it easy. Or so it seems.

Not to mention that they said they will not put in a "filler raid" in MOP because that would slow down WoD..... Wonder if they will rethink that once people start unsubbing.

Because they are Blizzard, and this is WoW...... people will pay it. That's their justification.

Oh come on, this expansion was a pile of garbage since they announced it at Blizzcon. Barely any really exciting new feautures, no new races or classes, story that makes no fucking sense whatsover thats just trying to milk the succes of Warcraft III. Oh wait, new models, whoop-dee-fucking-doo.

But on the bright side, we might be finally breaking the ICC season record with SoO? /facepalm.

Why bother using the level boost now? By the time the expansion is released you can level that toon and probably several more.

Yes, but if you wanted another boost to 90 and went with the "buy another game".... you would have to buy:

Battlechest
MOP
WoD
Character Transfer (to your other account - unless you wanted to pay a monthly sub for the new character)

the 60 boost is still rather cheaper than buying a new account to get it and then paying for a transfer.

The problem with your and a lot of people's thinking process is that you all assume everyone WANTS a boost and is actively looking forward to/needing one.

I'd remembered hearing just under a year(by a day or two), but that may be counting the 'holdover' raid...then again, that doesn't count imo(it never did 'hold over', maybe if it had added a sliiiightly longer raid or some non-raid content...) If it releases September, then yes, it will be on par.

The latter is very worrying. Your latest date set is December. You seriously expect that it -could- take that long? If you can't give a reliable date, don't give one at all.

I think they are required to give "a date" in order to accept pre-orders.

Indeed... it may well not release that late - but just saying it COULD do has put the nail in the coffin of several subs. It's not going to kill wow - but there goes their 200k increase in subs they were so proud of.

And? Blizzard's dev team massively expanded recently and they are clearly doing a lot of internal testing. They don't need to do huge 6 month betas.

Internal testing means very little..... sure it helps, but it's not till the game is in the hands of hundreds of thousands of players trying to break it that the real testing begins.

3.3.5 (Ruby Sanctum) released on June 22, 2010
4.0.1 (Pre-Cata) released on October 12, 2010
4.0.3a (Cata) released on November 23, 2010

So, ICC somewhere between 7 and 12 months, depending on your stance.

Cancel your sub until expansion hits -> save loads of money. It's not like they are going to introduce new stuff and honestly the best way to affect this long Tiers is by voting with a wallet.

its not expensive. 15 bucks a month is a drop in the bucket in the big picture and the expansion will be what 50 bucks?
