Though I haven't actually watched much of SHIELD, I think it would be cool if it set up some Spiderman stuff. Tom Holland is not a huge actor yet so unlike most of the Avengers he can appear on television. And though we've seen Spidey's origin story many times we haven't seen it on television. It could be a new spin on things.

Seems unlikely to me. The show likes to reference the movies and pretend to tie in, but having Spidey's origin story on the show? A bunch of the movie cast would have to be around for those scenes, I can't see where it would fit in from what I know of the show, and I think the movie crew wouldn't like to have the show set something like that in stone.

I doubt it would be significant yeah.

I think Civil War will have a major tie in as big as Winter Soldier maybe, but Ant Man? And what about those blueprints at the end of the second season?

Not really. Just Spiderman himself. Or it doesn't even have to be a direct origin story, there could just be a visit to Oscorp and some plot including genetically modified spiders. Spiderman doesn't necessarily even have to appear, we'd just know that that's where he got his powers in the MCU continuity.

And really even this much is starting to push the limit on how much we can stomach. We've seen it like a million times across movie and cartoon media. No more. We know how Spider-Man get his powers even more than we know Batman's parents were gunned down or Superman is an alien from Krypton.

No more origin stories, just keep it to slick references like this.

edit: if they choose to do origins, they can either go the full blown deal like Daredevil in an episodic show format or they can do brief, but relevant flashbacks. I don't really want to see Doctor Strange being a doctor, having everything happen, then evolve into a sorcerer. I want him to already be a dimension bending wizard who has something trigger a memory of his hands being bad or whatever.

I don't think they should bother with an origin story for spiderman in the movie. The spiderman cartoon in the 90s didn't bother with it aside from flashbacks in some episodes and it was probably the best adaption of spiderman ever.

I think you're going to see a brief origin in Dr. Strange. Us nerds know him and how he got started but the general populace?

There's a difference between mentioning or showing a flashback and doing an origin story.

    Hence "brief."

Oh come one, chrth, you made an oblique reference to a musical that hasn't run regularly in the US in 15 years, by way of a SNL sketch from (IIRC) longer ago than that :P

    Why are you surprised?

Welp, even if FF crashes and burns (again) I'll still be able to forgive Fox.
Looks like this one will be in my personal top3 Marvel movies list.

I'd rather that they went full origin story for Doctor Strange. Audiences don't know Strange, I don't know Strange. At the very least I'd like some explanatory opening scene. I don't know why Marvel seems to be leaning away from origin stories. Origin stories are interesting, it's just we don't want to see the same one over and over.

Maybe you need to have read the Deadpool comics to appreciate that trailer but...it does not inspire hope in me.

Most superhero origin stories are pretty samey. They've already mentioned Doctor Strange's name in Winter Soldier, so clearly he's got powers.

Not necessarily. Maybe he's just a rich influential doctor. Strange is opening up a whole new aspect of the setting to the audience. I'd rather we were eased into that a bit.

Hydra would want to target a rich influential doctor because they're socialists?

I think there's much better and cooler ways to introduce those elements and Doctor Strange than literally showing him get his powers, spend 2 hours dealing with that, and then fight his nemesis the Great and Powerful Trixie or whatever.

I don't know if you need to read the comics, but having some background on the Deadpool character helps.
