Should PVP be free to alliance non subscribers?

Should PVP be free to Alliance non subscribers?

It would certainly help balance the masses. It may also pull people into the game that are not subscribed.

    Just a thought

No, why? Because that is imbalance itself. Allowing those who don't even subscribe play a game that requires a subscription. It's unfair to the horde. It'll also cause imbalancement of the factions, which later will cause BG que times such for Alliance. So no.

Horde grossly out populates Alliance. Queueing for BGs as horde means only playing IoC and AV or waiting 20 minutes for a pop.

PVP has a population challenge as it is. This would help fix it.

A better solution is just to get rid of blue vs red and allow horde v horde like in rated pvp

Yeah, what? If you play this game at all and the subscription fee is a constant deterrant to your enjoyment, just don't play. If they offered server+faction migrations occasionally i think that would do enough. Making the alliance in general more appealing would also help, and i'm under the impression the new character models are going to go a long way in that direction. Who doesn't want to slap dragons with Gimli and Olivia Wilde? (Orcs is who!)

How about making PvE Raids free for Horde, that'll work...

Is this a joke thread? "Horde grossly out populates Alliance?" Are we playing the same game, or....

No they don',t alliance has a higher population.

Horde has a more hardcore population, is more accurate. Although not globally true for both sides of the game.

Lol... i'd likely return if I didn't have to pay, but in all honesty, this is a dumb idea. People would get mad and would want to quit. Besides, what restrictions would apply to those that don't have a sub? Can they do dungeons while leveling up? Or can they only quest/random bg's? Can they do arena and get gladiator while unsubbed? You might think your idea will balance things, but they'd only unbalance what's already unstable.

Blizzard: "Non subscribed Alliance players can now PvP for free in our game"
    Players: "Really?"
    Blizzard: "Yep"

    2 months later:

Blizzard: "Non-subscribed horde players are encouraged to join the game as we now have a 400:1 ratio Alliance:Horde in PvP and desperately need balance. To help balance things, we are removing Every Man For Himself."

    Non-sub players: "We're out!"

completely agree, but they have already said this is not an option.

No, this is an awful idea. Outside of AV and IoC, Alliance is already plagued with noobs to a larger extent than the Horde is. Adding more F2P noobs into the bucket would just make it more of an imbalanced farm-fest.

The imbalance is arbitrary and has emerged because Blizzard put in place destabilizing mechanisms that exacerbate the imbalance (can't play with friends cross-faction, changing faction is easy, BG blacklisting), but did not put in place mechanisms to stabilize the balance.

One mechanism to stabilize the situation would be mixed faction BGs, or at least Horde vs Horde. That would solve the situation permanently and completely, and would be the best choice, in my opinion. But that's not happening.

Another mechanism would be to dynamically inflate and reduce Honor and Conquest rewards based on the average faction win ratio for a particular BG. For example, if Horde has 10% chance to win in AV, and baseline should be 50%, then award 5x as many Conquest points and Honor points to Horde, and 5x less to Alliance. This will fix people's blacklisting choices, and smooth out the win ratios. Once win ratios are smooth, a small percentage of Horde players will transfer to Alliance for shorter queues, and that should be enough for queue times to stabilize.

I have horde and alliance - why the short queues for alliance and long queues for horde?

One, we're not going to support a faction-bashing thread, and two, a biased poll like that is just flamebait.

    Closing.
