I often seem to come across people who express the sentiment in the title, and I've always found it pretty obnoxious. Aside from personal taste, when people try to explain why the Horde is better than the Alliance it often just seems to come down to "The Alliance/Humans are racist". Seriously?

The Humans arguably have fair reason for not trusting the Orcs given that they were responsible for two massive wars against the humans whilst possesed by demons (I'll admit im not a lore expert), and aside from that the Horde allows straight up evil people and factions to be members. The Bilgewater Goblins are led by a guy who sold his own people into slavery, the Forsaken and Sylvannas seem to betray or screw over both the Alliance and other members of the Horde regularly, the Blood Elves are all insane magic addicts, blowing up Theramore for no reason, so on and so forth. And lets not forget we just had an entire expansion where the Horde's new Warchief almost unleashed an ancient evil on the world and did all sorts of evil stuff, yet we're not meant to blame the Horde as a whole because it was apparently all entirely Garrosh's fault.

Maybe I've got some stuff wrong, if so tell me, but I can't really see why we get Horde players who act like the Horde are the poor downtrodden underdogs who keep getting oppressed by the mean Alliance.

It's just a bit of friendly rivalry. Maybe being an Englishman toughened me up to this sort of banter a bit but I really don't bat an eyelid.

You seem to be looking at this from a lore angle. I see it as a user issue. I play both factions (PvE on Horde, PvP on Alliance), but after Theramoregate and "Hordecon", I'm firmly with the "fuck the alliance" crowd.

well if alliance players are racist, why i've never met alliance player, while playing as horde in bg, that "makes some strange gestures" when he lands killing blow on me? i can see it only from horde players...

Personally I say Fuck both factions cause they are all warmongering bastard who really really, REALLY!!! Want to be bum fucked by the Burring legion cuz they never bother to stick together like in WC3. The only reason why I chosen the taurens and by extension the horde was because Thrall and because the tauren expect for the grimtotem are peaceful badasses who respect the world unlike the rest of the races hell the night elfs would be my second favorite if they weren't so obsessed with being hypocrites and start listening to Malfurion more.

I am a little confused on your comments on the horde races. Mostly the blood elf insane addict thing, this hasn't really been true. If you pay attention to the story we a pretty much light missionaries to the horde. The issue of that mana addiction was brought up as a race defining aspect of blood elven culture then it was crushed at the end of said expansion.

I love when people think there's actually major differences in the horde or Alliance community. The alliance whine more currently because they got fucked over more

I still see Horde players bringing up Camp Taurajo.

No, that's only custom emotes, like advertising your kill count, or a vulgar emote about your testicles.

On topic, I'm all for in-character rivalries, but the OOC shit you see from some horde players is ridiculous. It makes me wonder about the mental welfare of some people. Of course, that's not to say you won't see 'fuck the Horde' - you certainly will. It just seems to be more prevalent among the Horde.

If I had to guess why, I'd say because it's the more 'aggressive' faction, or that Blizzard has done more to cultivate faction pride with it.
