    Cancun Spring Break 2014

Hi, me and a friend (both from the UK) are looking to go to Cancun for Spring Break this year. My idea is that it is around March time and before Easter. I just wanted to know from people with experience, the best dates to go for 10-14 days, where's good to stay, how to get involved with activities and any other information that could be useful.

A Brit in Cancun for spring break? Bring your SPF 100.
Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.

I've been to Cancun a couple of times (never on Spring Break, so cannot help with dates) and stayed at a hotel called "Blue Bay Gettaway". I think this changed name a few years back and might be called "Temptation" or something similar. It is an all inclusive resort for adults only so should be just what you guys are looking for.

There are three pools, 24 hour bars, next to the beach (not lagoon side, which is good because of GATORS!!!), all day entertainment around the main pool which you do not have to join in with (but give it a few beers and you will). My personal favourites were tequilla vollyball and the bellyflop competition. The rooms are all en suite and have two 24 hour porn channels (if that is your thing!). They also run nightly competitions to win free entry with open bar in to one of the many night clubs in Cancun (Coco Bongo being my fave), and the staff all go to the night clubs with you to show you a good time!

As I said, it has been a fair few years since I have been so it "may" be different now (and it almost sounds like I am a rep for the resort, apologies), but the two times I have been were probably the best lads holiday's I have been on.

Most of all, have fun, dont fuck with the police, and wrap up!

Thank you for more information yes I looked at this hotel and it did look good it is for over 21 which is good as we are both over 24. I heard that staying near the hotel area is the best as it is near the clubs but not sure if this information is legit. The only information that seems consistent is to wrap up lol does everyone have aids or something??

Its not about Aids (although, you wouldnt want to catch that!), its more to do with finding out in 10 months time you have a little American / Mexcan version of yourself come in to the world, who's mum wants your cash

With regards to the hotel area, you want to stay as close to the new town as possible. The old town is further away from the airport but the closer you are to it, the cheaper the hotel (the hotels in the new town are expensive compared to others). Taxis are cheap as hell, just dont let them take you to a brothel when drunk as they tend to get a fee from them, and most hotels have certain nights in the week where they will provide a bus or similar and charge around $50 to take you on a bar crawl (with all bars being "open" - although during Spring Break this might not be on offer

Good luck with the cartels, dont get kidnapped. From experience from 2 years ago, resort staff picked us up from the airport in a white tinted van and mind you the driver and his assistant was carrying a gun. Cartels dont care if youre in a resort in Canun or what if they gonna take you they will take you. But other than that Mexico was great. Cheerio!
We didn't wipe 100 times. We just found 100 ways how not to down a boss.

This is very true and HA-HA yes I am certainly mature and sensible enough to know if in this situation to wrap up appropriately lol as would my friend. More information I was looking for was dates reviews on hotels and areas etc. I read about swimming with dolphins, ruins and other activities not related to bedroom fun and party's.

All hotels will have activities you can book. Three you need to do (imo) are:

    - Visit the Isle du Meres (sp?) via a catermaran. Its an all day trip to an Island you can see on the horizon from the beach. The trip I took we got to snorkel on the way there for a couple of hours, then spent three to four hours on the island and hired quad bikes to mess around on. They then sail round to the tip of the island with a private beach and provided an authentic mexican dinner (which was awesome), we got to swim with a shark in a pen next to the beach (which had had it's teeth removed!) and take photos with it - I believe dolphin swimming is also available for extra cash. Finally on the way back to the hotel we did paragliding with the sail, and there is free alcohol for the entire trip!

    - Visit Chichanitza (again, sp?). Book a tour, visit the Mayan ruins, dinner on the way back along with a trip to an underground cave system with a beautiful lagoon full of HUGE fish, which you can swim and dive in to for a couple of hours. Unbelievably early start (bus ride through the jungle!), unbelievably hot, but absolutely stunning.

    - Visit the water park where Blue Lagoon was shot (name escapes me). Generally a fun day out, with snorkeling, swimming, sun bathing and cliff jumping. The trip we booked had all of the snorkel gear and food provided for about $40 each.

If I can think of any more I will let you know, there are shark / marlin fishing trips, scubadiving training / trips etc available but I didnt go on any of these so cannot comment on how good they are!

I took around $300 for two weeks, but this was in September and spent most of the time at the hotel (due to it being all-inclusive). I would personally budget around $50 - 100 for each night out you plan, and then around $300 - $400 for trips and tips (give your hotel barman $5 - $10 a day and he will love you!)

I almost forgot that we went to see a football game, organised through one of the hotel bar staff. Cost me around $30 and involved getting in a beat up car with a few Mexican chaps I didn't know (I was not so wise back then), but was unbelievable. The atmosphere is something you will not experience anywhere else and they have hot women in bikinis shooting t-shirts out of cannons in to the crowd! It will be a late one (think we got back around 4am, left at 10am the previous day) but worth going if you can.

    Always assume everyone has AIDS.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
    All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

I'm quite sure that Spring Break is over, so there isn't much reason to necro this thread.
