    Laptop Hard Disk Error (3F1)

I looked it up and there wasn't much information other than to test the drive to see if it is corrupted and possibly by a new hard drive. The problem is that I put in my desktops SSD and it still gave me this error, even though I am booting my desktop with this SSD and don't get the error. So it seems like it would have to be something other than the hard drive which I can't figure out. Any ideas? I'm doing the test as I type this, about an hour and 30 left. Either way figured I should make a post here to make sure that there isn't another solution.

I don't know what kind of Laptop it is. It's my moms. I would check but there are no stickers on it at all and I can't boot it because of this issue. It's HP. Has one sticker on it that says E2 VISION AMD and the number 2000 at the bottom right of the screen if that helps at all. Been trying to fix this for a week now.

This seems to be a common problem with HPs judging by a quick search.

It may be something with the motherboard (which is likely judging by the fact that a working drive doesn't work in it), or the original drive may be bad. Or the connectors themselves.

If it looks similar to this guy: https://www.google.com/search?q=hp+D...=isch&imgdii=_

Then that's the model that was having problems. It seems to be a fault in that model line with SATAs, so I'd recommend just going for a new one as soon as possible.

For now, I think the best thing to do would be to connect it to your PC as a secondary drive, pull the data off that you need to save, and then reformat it and reinstall Windows. Since you don't have the stickers, you'll need the Windows Product Key from inside the system; http://www.pcworld.com/product/94644...keyfinder.html should work.
